Chelsea vs Tottenham

Chelsea welcome London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Thursday evening (Sky Sports Main Event/Premier League, 19:30), looking to build on their impressive comeback draw at Aston Villa over the weekend. The Blues turned in a good performance at Villa Park and will want to carry that momentum back to home soil.

Spurs almost completed an incredible comeback of their own against bitter rivals Arsenal last time out as they salvaged two goals after being 3-0 down. When these two sides last met in November, Chelsea were 4-1 winners as Tottenham were reduced to nine men. Below I have laid out my Chelsea vs Tottenham predictions, which also includes team news and match odds.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Betting Tips

  • Chelsea/draw and over 3.5 goals @ 6/4
  • Noni Madueke anytime goalscorer @ 2/1

Match Odds

Chelsea are 11/10 to take the three points here, giving them an implied probability of 47.6%. Spurs are priced at 7/4 to emerge the victors, which gives them a 36.4% chance. The draw can be backed at 11/4 (26.7%).

Both teams to score has landed in two of the last three meetings between these two clubs in the Premier League and it is valued to 2/7 to deliver here. Over 2.5 goals is on offer at the same odds.

Chelsea's Cole Palmer has scored 20 goals in the league this season and he is priced at 7/2 to open the scoring on Thursday. Tottenham attacker Son Heung-min has found the back of the net on 16 occasions and he is 6/5 to score anytime at Stamford Bridge.

Team News

Chelsea are likely to be without veteran defender Thiago Silva, who announced he was leaving the Blues in the summer, after he picked up a groin problem against Villa at the weekend. He will be joining Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, Ben Chilwell, Enzo Fernandez and Carney Chukwuemeka in the treatment room.

Robert Sanchez, Raheem Sterling, Levi Colwill and Christopher Nkunku will all be assessed ahead of Thursday.

Tottenham's Timo Werner is unlikely to get a return to Stamford Bridge after he exited the defeat to Arsenal early because of a hamstring injury. Destiny Udogie, Manor Solomon, Fraser Forster and Ryan Sessegnon are also ruled out for this clash.

Chelsea/draw and over 3.5 goals @ 6/4

After their spirited comeback in the West Midlands on Saturday, which they almost won before Var intervened, Chelsea look to have recovered from their 5-0 humiliation against Arsenal a week ago.

I was impressed with the way they moved the ball around against Villa and the team showed that there is more to their attacking play than just Palmer's goals. Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher were the scorers and their goals were both brilliant in their own right, and I fancy them to play key roles for the Blues once again when they welcome Spurs.

For this match, I like the look of covering Chelsea and draw for double chance, but by boosting the price with over 3.5 goals. There were five goals in November's meeting between the two teams and over the weekend, the two sides were involved in matches that featured at least four goals.

I fancy Chelsea mainly because they are at home and while they have been unpredictable this year, so too have Spurs. I think the home advantage could have a huge part to play in this fixture, but I can also see the game ending in a stalemate.

Both sides have some strong attacking players but they have shown that they can be vulnerable at the back, with both having to deal with makeshift back lines at the moment - which could set up a high-scoring affair.

Chelsea/draw and over 3.5 goals at 6/4 Noni Madueke anytime goalscorer @ 2/1

England youth international Madueke turned in one of his best performances in a Chelsea shirt against Villa, scoring the first goal for his side before teeing up Gallagher for the equaliser.

He now has four goals in the Premier League this term and I like his chances to add to his tally against Tottenham. With Spurs' first choice left-back Udogie sidelined, Ben Davies has come into the side and he could be in for a tough evening against the Blues' wide man.

The Welshman struggled against Arsenal's Bukayo Saka at the weekend, who got the better of him to score, and with Madueke playing in a similar way, I think Davies could be tormented once again down the right channel.

Noni Madueke anytime scorer at 2/1 Betfred are running their famed Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven offer on this match, meaning that if a player scores first and then nets again, you will be paid at double the odds. If he grabs a hat-trick, you will be paid at treble the odds!
