Leicester vs West Brom Prediction: Foxes to strike back

Leicester vs West Brom

Nobody wants to get promoted to the Premier League this season, it seems. Although Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich all went off at break-neck speed over the first three-quarters of the campaign, now we have reached the business end they are floundering. None of the trio have won in their last two outings, which has surprisingly allowed Southampton to pull themselves back into contention.

Leicester had a 17-point lead over third place at one stage during the season, but are now reeling after back-to-back 1-0 defeats. They host West Brom at the King Power Stadium (12:30, Sky Sports Main Event), looking to get back to winning ways. Here’s my Leicester vs West Brom prediction, in a gargantuan clash at the top end of the table.

Leicester vs West Brom Tips

  • Leicester to win @ 8/15
  • #PickYourPunt - Leicester to win, Dewsbury-Hall to score and under 2.5 goals @ 12/1

Team News

Leicester fans have run out of patience with striker Patson Daka after he missed several key chances against Plymouth and Millwall. With a lack of goals apparent over the last two games, Jamie Vardy is likely to come back into the team.

The experienced striker should captain the side, supported by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Abdul Fatawa and Stephy Mavididi. Dennis Praet, Conor Coady and Callum Doyle could come into the team if Enzo Maresca wants to completely hit the reset button for the final run-in.

West Brom will be without striker Brandon Thomas-Asante after he was shown a straight red card in the defeat to Sunderland last time out. Jed Wallace is likely to come into the team to lead the line, while John Swift and Semi Ajayi may also be given starts after a disappointing run of form.

Match Odds

Leicester are 8/15 to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 65%. West Brom are priced at 9/2 to win, a draw is 11/4 and over 2.5 goals is 4/5. If you fancy both teams to find the net, BTTS is priced at 4/5

Leicester to win @ 8/15

Leicester need their home comforts. Badly. They have lost their last three away games by one goal to nil, and faith seems to be evaporating around Maresca and this squad to get promoted. But I think they can find the win here. They have been excellent at home of late, even when the pressure has been on.

They came from behind to beat Norwich and scored a late winner against Birmingham, giving them two vital wins. They aren’t in great form, and they are a bit short here in terms of price, but I think they can beat West Brom. Without Thomas-Asante the visitors are weakened, plus they have also been in pretty poor form of late.

The win over lowly Rotherham United is their only success in their last five matches and they threw away a two-goal lead against Watford. With their place in the play-offs secure, I’m not sure they will have what it takes to stop a Leicester side who are desperate for all three points. We could see these two meet again in a few weeks time…

#PickYourPunt -Leicester to win, Dewsbury-Hall to score and under 2.5 goals @ 12/1

Dewsbury-Hall has been Leicester’s best player this season, and if they are playing well, it is usually down to him. The number 10 has been profitable in front of goal this term, registering 12 goals and 13 assists in the league. With the strikers misfiring at this moment in time, don’t be surprised to see the 25-year-old step up to the plate with another goal.

I think he will score in a Leicester win, while I also believe we will see under 2.5 goals at the King Power. The Foxes need to put the record straight and get back to their flying best, but they have struggled for goals recently. They are also facing a stubborn WBA outfit who are incredibly well-organised under Carlos Corberan. I think it will be a tight encounter, but the Foxes will get that much-needed win.
