Germany vs Netherlands Prediction: Goals expected in Frankfurt

Germany stunned Europe this weekend when they beat France 2-0 in Paris, with Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz finding the net against the 2022 World Cup finalists. Now, they host the Netherlands in a crunch clash, with the two fierce rivals meeting at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt (19:45).

Julian Nagelsmann’s men ended 2023 in dismal form, but they bounced back in spectacular style with that impressive win over France. Meanwhile, the Netherlands have smashed in 12 goals over their last four games, including hitting four past Scotland on Friday night. Below you can find my Germany vs Netherlands predictions, featuring team news and match odds.

Germany vs Netherlands Tips

  • Over 3.5 goals @ 6/4
  • Draw and BTTS @ 100/30

Team News

Nagelsmann is finalising his preferred XI as we approach Euro 2024. Kai Havertz played as a number nine in that win over France, and the experiment of using him at left-back is thankfully over. Die Mannschaft could look at other attacking options including Niclas Fullkrug, while Maximilian Mittelstadt could start again at left-back.

Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries is expected to come in for Jeremie Frimpong for the Netherlands, with PSV Eindhoven’s Joey Veerman also likely to come into the midfield. Memphis Depay is still expected to lead the line, while Wout Weghorst scored off the bench and is vying for a starting berth.

Match Odds

Germany are the favourites for this game at EVS, with the Netherlands priced at 5/2 to secure an away win. A draw is available to be backed at 13/5, over 2.5 goals is 8/13 and BTTS is 8/15

Over 3.5 goals @ 6/4

We should be in for an absolute thriller in Germany. Both of these teams are in fine goalscoring fettle, with the Dutch side hitting ten goals in their last two outings. They’ve played Gibraltar and Scotland to give some context to that goalscoring run, but they’ve also kept four clean sheets on the bounce.

That doesn’t sound great for our hopes for goals, but this Germany side is packed full of attacking talent. They’ve now scored at least twice in five of their last six matches, scoring twice against France on two occasions during that run. With defensive changes expected, we should see a bucketload of goals in this international derby.

Draw and BTTS @ 100/30

I expect both teams will find the net here, given what we have seen over the past few games. If France couldn’t contain Germany, I expect the Netherlands to face the same issues. But Ronald Koeman has got his side playing well and importantly, scoring goals. They demolished Scotland and their front three of Cody Gakpo, Depay and Xavi Simons will cause issues for any side.

With Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Ake at the back, they should be able to put up a good fight against Germany. I really can’t separate these two teams which makes me think that a draw is the most likely outcome. If we throw BTTS into the mix, we come out with a healthy price of 100/30
