Tennis Betting Tips: Chance for Draper to continue his New York City surge

Friday’s men’s singles semi-final offerings at the US Open this year provide tennis fans with some fascinating clashes, especially the flagship clash between world number one and New York City top seed Jannik Sinner and fast-rising Briton Jack Draper.
The other semi-final is an all-American affair as world number 12 Taylor Fritz takes on his compatriot Frances Tiafoe, who is eight places below him in the rankings, and both matches feature in our tennis betting tips for Friday, September 6.
Tennis Betting Tips - Friday, September 6
Jack Draper to beat Jannik Sinner @ 9/2
Sinner has done well to see off the threats of Tommy Paul, who is having the best season of his career, and 2021 US Open hero Daniil Medvedev, who has been performing well all year.
However, the Italian, who won his first Grand Slam singles crown at the Australian Open in January, may find that world number 25 Draper offers his toughest test yet.
Draper won his first main-tour title on grass in Stuttgart in June, but having been seemingly going through the motions in his earlier US Open Series outings, the 22-year-old from Surrey has found different gears on his return to the Big Apple.
Draper has been hugely impressive in New York City this year and so it would be remiss to spurn the chance to back him to dump out Jannik Sinner, who is just 4/9 to make it two major hard-court wins out of two this year.
Punters can definitely consider backing Draper for the title at a generous-looking 8/1 before the semi-finals start, but this preview surrounds the last-four clashes and the Sutton ace looks way overpriced at 9/2 to stun Sinner.
Draper has yet to drop a set in the singles - Sinner has dropped two, one against Mackenzie McDonald and another against Daniil Medvedev.
But Draper has already beaten the man from the Dolomites - 7-6 7-6 at Queen’s Club in 2021. The son of former LTA boss Roger Draper was just a teenager at the time and he clearly had an advantage over Sinner on grass.
But going into their second meeting, it would not be a surprise if Draper, given how well he has been performing in the tournament, was to claim Sinner’s scalp on hard courts.
Draper, a physical powerpack whose physique is made for tennis - he is slightly taller than Sinner and weighs in about 10kg heavier - has already seen off Carlos Alcaraz at Queen’s this year.
And on Friday night he can next ram home his right to be considered one of the world’s best players by thwarting Alcaraz’s chief contemporary rival for the number one ranking.

Over 39.5 total games in Taylor Fritz vs Frances Tiafoe @ 8/11
Taylor Fritz is likely to win his semi-final clash against his fellow American Frances Tiafoe, but the Californian is no certainty to do so.
Tiafoe thoroughly deserves his place in the last four after hinting in recent seasons that he is good enough to be competing at the top level and the Maryland native, a confirmed battler, can at least ensure that Fritz has to pull out the stops.
An indirect way of supporting the outsider is to back over the total games. And seeing as 39.5 is the lowest option we have of getting long, punters should accept that and take the price.
