Tennis Betting Tips: Sakkari to come out on top against Boulter

A fresh week of tennis action is upon us and there are so many events across both the ATP and WTA Tours to grab our attention. The events that have caught my eye for Monday's Tennis Betting Tips are the ones taking place in Washington D.C., where hard-court action is in store.

Match Betting - Zizou Bergs to beat Dan Evans @ 8/15

British star Dan Evans returns to Washington after a two-year absence, having collected the title here in 2023. He was absent last year because of his participation at the Paris Olympics with Team GB.

The ageing star has enjoyed his time on grass in recent weeks, which has pushed him back into the top 150 rankings. He's up against Zizou Bergs for his opening contest here, and Bergs has lost each of his last four matches, so he will be desperate to have a good run in Washington.

The Belgian has struggled for form since reaching the final in s’Hertogenbosch, but we know there is a good player there if he can rediscover his rhythm. Evans is still finding consistency himself, so this could end up being a close encounter on Monday.

With Bergs being nine years Evans' junior, I think he would handle this match better than his opponent if a decisive third set was required.

Match Betting - Maya Joint to beat Leylah Fernandez @ 4/5

Leylah Fernandez, the 2021 US Open runner-up, has been having a difficult year on court in 2025. Consistency has been a huge problem for her, with a couple quarter-final appearances, including most recently at the Nottingham Open, being her biggest accomplishments so far.

The Canadian is up against Maya Joint in the first round in Washington, who has already claimed two WTA titles this season, which both came in the weeks leading up to the latest Grand Slams at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Fatigue then struck the 19-year-old at the two majors and that is something her and her team will look to improve on moving forward. The Australian has moved up to 37 in the rankings and although she suffered a disappointing first-round exit at Wimbledon, she should be delighted by the great strides she has taken this calendar year.

On paper this does look to be an interesting contest because of both players' movement around the court, as well as their counter-hitting abilities. Momentum is with Joint, who is quickly becoming a big threat on the Tour, and on current form, I'm not sure Fernandez will be able to handle that.

Set Betting - Maria Sakkari to beat Katie Boulter 2-1 @ 16/5

Both Maria Sakkari and Katie Boulter are searching for consistency ahead of their clash in Washington. Sakkari is making her first appearance since her second-round exit at Wimbledon, losing to 2022 champion Elena Rybakina.

The Greek star has failed to win back-to-back matches in the main draw of any event since the Madrid Open in April, in what has been one of her most testing seasons to date.

Boulter had an impressive win over Paula Badosa at the All England Lawn Club in the first round, before throwing away a one-set lead to lose against Solana Sierra in the following match.

The Brit holds a psychological advantage over Sakkari ahead of their meeting on Monday, having won their previous head-to-head clash, which came back in 2018 at the Tianjin Open. Currently, neither player is in the best of form, so this contest is likely to go the distance.

Sakkari was the runner-up here in 2023 and perhaps all she needs is the hard-court swing to help get her back on track. Therefore, I'm backing her to come out on top after three sets.
