Roosters vs Broncos Prediction: Mam-ma Mia! Brisbane look big on the three-way handicap

Two of the leading candidates for NRL glory in 2026 collide at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday when the Sydney Roosters host the reigning-champion Brisbane Broncos (19:35 local, 10:35 BST, Sky Sports Action).
Both sides enter in sparkling form, with the Chooks on a four-game winning run and the champs boasting five victories in six. My Roosters vs Broncos predictions are below, along with full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

The home side have the edge in the betting markets, with Betfred slating Roosters as the 4/7 pick. That implies a 63.6% probability.
The champs are 6/4, while it’s 16/1 for the game to go beyond the initial 80 and into golden-point extra-time.
Team News
There’s not much to report in the way of alterations for the Roosters, with Trent Robinson going with the same first 17 for the fourth match running.
Cody Ramsey and Tommy Talau are the two extras on the bench having been unused in the Round 8 demolition of the bottom-of-the-table Dragons.
Superstar full-back Reece Walsh is the big-name returnee for the Broncos after overcoming face and foot injuries.
Vice-captain Pat Carrigan is also back having served a two-match suspension for his high shot on Tom Chester in the rollercoaster loss to the Cowboys in Round 6.
Brendan Piakura misses out through injury, so Xavier Willison takes the 11 jersey with Carrigan coming in at 13.
Preston Riki is suspended, with Aublix Tawha and Jesse Arthars both back from injuries to take up spots on the bench.
Handicap 3-way: Broncos +6 @ 4/5
I really can’t call a winner here. These are two great clubs, with star-studded line-ups, excellent form, and X-factor possibilities.
Both sides have found their stride after difficult beginnings to the season, with Daly Cherry-Evans now settling in nicely alongside Sam Walker in the Roosters’ halves.
Up in the capital of Queensland, the reigning champs have overcome three straight losses to start the year and posted their biggest win so far last Friday in slapping the Bulldogs 32-12.
In that one, three of their four outside-backs crossed, while Ezra Mam showed the finishing quality of a top-drawer winger to score in the corner.
I believe the Broncos have the firepower to at least keep Easts close, so the 4/5 available for them to stay within six looks generous to me.

Ezra Mam Anytime Tryscorer @ 6/4
A week on from seeing it, Mam’s try against the Bulldogs still takes some believing.
You’d have been forgiven for thinking he’d been working the crash mats with the wingers for the rest of the week had you watched it in isolation.
But that’s not all that the stand-off brings to the table, with that stunning hat-trick in the 2023 NRL Grand Final just one of a number of memorable performances.
And I reckon he can have a real say in this humdinger. The 6/4 about him scoring at any point looks pretty big given his 41 in 77 record for the Bronx.
