Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils Predictions: Prolific Swift the banker

Two free-flowing sides meet in Huddersfield as Salford Red Devils look to build on a thrilling win over Warrington Wolves by rectifying their indifferent away form at the dangerous Giants (kick-off 19:45 BST, live on Sky Sports Arena).

Paul Rowley's side edged a thriller at the Salford Community Stadium last week, while the Giants fell just on the wrong side of a 13-12 scoreline away to St Helens, and my Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils prediction will take into account the close battles the pair have just come off.

Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils Tips

  • 3-way Handicap Huddersfield -6 @ 20/21
  • Adam Swift anytime tryscorer @ 4/6

Team news

Salford have two key men back this week as both Brad Singleton and Chris Hankinson return to the squad after recovering from injuries.

Prop Singleton has been sidelined with a knee issue but has been cleared to return, while outside back Hankinson has also completed his rehab and will fight for his place back in a position where Ethan Ryan and Deon Cross have both shone.

Hooker Amir Bourouh is still out though so Joe Mellor will continue at hooker, while prop King Vuniyayawa left the field with a head injury last weekend and was not cleared to return, so he misses out through concussion protocols.

Huddersfield are without a key prop too, with Matty English suffering with a niggling calf injury so he is not risked.

3-way Handicap Huddersfield Giants -6 @ 20/21

Huddersfield have found some form of late and only lost out in agonising fashion at St Helens last week as Jonny Lomax slotted over a dramatic late drop goal.

That defeat ended a run of five straight wins, the last four of which impressively came on the road, so Ian Watson’s side will be very confident of getting back on the horse on home soil.

As for Salford, they were excellent to take the wind out of Sam Burgess’ sails with a home win over Warrington on Saturday, having edged past struggling London in the capital the week before.

But the Red Devils’ away form has been strangely erratic, losing at Castleford Tigers, Hull Kingston Rovers and Leeds Rhinos, while winning at Saints. I feel like this is a difficult fixture for Paul Rowley’s side, as two of the best British coaches go head to head. And I’m leaning towards the home side winning a compelling contest, and covering a six-point handicap at an implied probability of 51.2% from the 20/21 odds.

Huddersfield to win -6 @ 20/21

Adam Swift anytime tryscorer @ 4/6

Not the bravest call or the biggest odds, but how on earth can you look anywhere other than Adam Swift at the moment?

The winger has been a revelation since quitting Hull FC to join the Giants, last week’s try at St Helens taking him to 10 for the league season, and moving him clear of Innes Senior and Liam Marshall as the Betfred Super League’s leading try scorer.

Another try this week feels like a foregone conclusion.

Adam Swift anytime tryscorer @ 4/6
