Uttoxeter Tips: Bumpy Evans on the road to more success

Lots of racing action across Britain on Tuesday with four meetings scheduled to take place, including the jumps card from Uttoxeter.
The Midlands venue stages a seven-race National Hunt card from 14:10-17:10, with ground conditions expected to be 'good'. The feature race is a three-mile handicap chase due to go off at 15:40. Below are my three best bets on Tuesday's card at Uttoxeter.
Uttoxeter Tips - Tuesday, September 16
- 14:40 Uttoxeter – Percy Shelley @ 4/5
- 15:40 Uttoxeter – Bumpy Evans @ 9/4
- 16:40 Uttoxeter – My Virtue @ 14/1

14:40 Uttoxeter – Percy Shelley @ 4/5
James Owen is no stranger to introducing a useful Flat performer to jumping hurdles and PERCY SHELLEY fits that billing as he prepares to tackle the two-and-a-half-mile maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter.
The Sir Percy gelding was a three-time winner on the Flat in his native France and ran some good races in 2024 for David O'Meara without getting his head in front.
He reappeared in the spring for his new trainer and this season has followed a similar pattern, with runner-up finishes at the likes of York, Chester, Newbury and Newmarket in decent handicaps at trips from 1m6f-2m½f.
He has typically maintained a mark in the low 80s throughout the season and he's an interesting recruit to this sphere, with champion jockey Sean Bowen a promising booking.

15:40 Uttoxeter – Bumpy Evans @ 9/4
The feature race is the Class 3 handicap chase over three-miles and the progressive BUMPY EVANS is fancied to continue winning ways on stable bow for Kerry Lee.
He was formerly trained by Tim Vaughan and has form figures of 21111 since going chasing.
His latest win was a wide-margin success at Cartmel over 3m1½f on good ground in July off a mark of 93, with a next-time-out winner behind in third spot.
The handicapper has taken a swipe at him, with a new mark of 112 to contend with now, but it would be a shock if he isn't better than that.

16:40 Uttoxeter – My Virtue @ 14/1
Mel Rowley's mare MY VIRTUE is fancied for a big run in the two-and-a-half-miler over fences in the hands of Charlie Deutsch.
The seven-year-old has been runner-up in two of her three outings since a wind op, with silver medals at Stratford (2m3½f, good to firm) in July and again last month at Cartmel (2m5f, good) when outpaced by ready winner Judicial Review on the long run to the winning line at the Cumbria venue.
This low rating of 82 is one that the mare can exploit before long in this grade, based on those recent efforts and with the exception of recent Fontwell winner Shantou Lucky, there might not be a lot to fear in this contest.
