20:51 Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Hawk (4) @ SP

Rockies Balboa (5) has raced four times. He has one line of form that will win this race by open lengths. Second time out, he was a close up runner up in a maiden at Keeneland in October. That was a very deep contest with subsequent stakes winners finishing behind him.

For some reason, he fluffed his lines at a short price at Churchill Downs next time. He got back on track against an overmatched field, graduating here last month. That form is no better than a few of these in here. There is a chance he can run closer to that Keeneland effort and be hard to beat.

Hawk (4) could be the horse to use here. Maybe a win play with a forecast with Rockies Balboa (5). His maiden winning form here last month is nothing out of the ordinary. The main ‘in’ with him is the form Carlos David at present.

He’s winning with a fifty percent strike rate over the last few weeks and scored with six of his last nine runners. Sometimes you have to go with the trainer with the hot hand.

Winplaceandshow (1) is a filly taking on the boys. She broke her maiden well here last month. Her rider got away with setting soft fractions. With the likes of Rockies Balboa (5) and Eddie Haskell (3) in this line up, she won’t get it so easy on the front.

The last named is the wild card in here. He broke his maiden by six lengths on the turf in Indiana in October. If he can transfer that run to the dirt, he will make his presence felt.

Trelawny (2), All to Win (6) and Prost (7) have been trying stakes races for Florida breds. This is a drop in class. All to Win (6) has received less than positive rides in both starts since he broke his maiden on debut. He now gets the services of Irad Ortiz.

Prost (7) broke his maiden first time out by nine lengths over course and distance. He didn’t seem to stay the extended mile second time out.

20:51 Gulfstream - Winner
