21:42 Tampa Bay Downs (Race 9) – Heybabyyougotit (4) @ SP
The standard setter here is probably Sagcy (9). She has ran well in both her starts. On debut, she finished just behind Cajun Hottie (7) in a productive maiden. A month later, she narrowly missed in a maiden claimer for today’s price.
Her old rival Cajun Hottie (7) has to rebound after poor run last time. That is also the case with Shesa Mischieflady (6). She shaped well on her debut but not so at second asking. She’s in good hands so can’t be dismissed.
Beautriz (1) had a troubled trip on her debut in the summer. She left that form behind six months later when runner up here. The rail drawn filly has claims in a race of many chances. Maybe a couple in here can do the same and come to life second time at the races.
Choose Your Words (2) was an early factor before fading in a deeper race than this. She is worth considering but it is Heybabyyougotit (4) that gets the vote. She showed up for a long way in a much better maiden on debut at Delaware in September. She’s been working well locally and gets a drop in class.
A market move for newcomers Mischievous Anita (3) and Fashion Moll (10) may be significant. Crimson Red (11) ships in from Gulfstream. She has dangerous early speed.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
22:15 Oaklawn Park (Race 8) – The Trivista Stakes – Nerazurri (2) @ SP
The feature here will have a very short priced favourite in Nerazurri (2). She is much improved since joining trainer Mark Casse. The four year old won a conditions race well over six furlongs here in December. Her next two starts were even better.
She beat Seraphia (3) by three plus lengths to win a similar stake to today. Then earlier this month, she ran second in a Grade 3 here. In truth, she was no match late on for top class stablemate Nitrogen. It was still fine effort, finishing well clear of the third. She has tactical speed so jockey Christian Ramos can work out almost any kind of trip. Her trainer’s Oaklawn string continues in fine form.
Based on her run behind the favourite, Seraphia (3) looks a leading player for the forecast. Take out her run two starts back, she looks a progressive four year old. At her best, Peignoir (6) can make some noise. She may have needed her comeback when fourth in a stake here. She’s worked well since then.
Trainer Ken McPeek is double handed. Both his Decadent (4) and Gowells Delight (8) go up in class after good efforts in allowance conditions events. The first named is unexposed in route races. Gowells Delight (8) won nicely here earlier this month. She may be getting back to her graded stakes best.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
