Horse Racing Tips: Lucinda and Scu can shine at Kelso

Jump racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with four meetings taking place over the afternoon. First off is a very good card at Tipperary before they go at Uttoxeter, Killarney and Kelso.
Among our Sunday horse racing tips is one for training duo Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore at Kelso who will have the services of the just-returned Derek Fox and could prove hard to beat if all falls into place.

13:58 Kelso - Conman John @ 8/15
Opening the card at Kelso is a 2m5f novices' hurdle and it could be the turn of the Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore runner CONMAN JOHN to show what he's made of on his first try over hurdles.
Third to the useful Walks In June in a Dawstown point-to-point in May 2024, he won a Damma House point-to-point by 20 lengths in November for Rob James and was subsequently sold on for the healthy sum of £170,000 at the Cheltenham November Sale.
Conman John finished second in a Newcastle bumper on his first start for this yard in February, and followed that up with a solid fifth of 22 in a tough Punchestown bumper in May.
He did his best work at the finish on that occasion and should now be well suited by this extra emphasis on stamina. This is a nice race for him and he should win if he can improve just a tad.

15:13 Kelso - Linalene @ 17/2
Another for the Russell and Scudamore team that we fancy today is LINALENE, who will take his chance in the 2m novices' hurdle, with 5lb claimer Alan Doyle doing the steering.
The four-year-old ran a cracker on his racecourse debut when a close third in an Aintree bumper last November and although he proved to be disappointing in two further NH Flat outings at Bangor and Perth, he could prove to be a different proposition on his hurdling debut.
The stable are operating at 19% over hurdles and do well at the track so a big run can be expected.

15:43 Kelso - Cooper's Cross @ 9/2
The final selection on the card at Kelso hasn;t been the most reliable performer but it has to be interesting that Brian Hughes has been booked to ride COOPER'S CROSS for the very first time for Stuart Coltherd in the 3m2f handicap chase.
This horse comes with major risks attached, that's for sure. He has been pulled up in five of his last eight races, and the three races he completed were none too encouraging either.
However, if he can bounce back to somewhere close to his best, he can be given a massive chance off a rating of 107, as he finished second in the Scottish Grand National in 2023 off a mark of 133.
