Horse Racing Tips: Moon ready to shine again at Southwell

Three National Hunt meetings make up Sunday's fare across Britain and Ireland There’s competitive action at Southwell and, following the cancelling of the Chases, there is an all-hurdle card at Carlisle, while over in Ireland Navan stages a sextet of handicaps before a Listed Bumper rounds their day off.
Among our fancies for the day is one for trainer Tom Ellis who should continue to improve in handicaps.

12:30 Southwell - Seasmoke @ 9/4
Billy Aprahamian’s seven-year-old SEASMOKE showed minor promise over hurdles and has made an encouraging start her chasing career. Not beaten far on reappearance in October, she made no mistake next time, getting off the mark at Market Rasen last month.
She was patiently ridden that day but stayed on well and, although only winning by a length, it was against vastly more experienced rivals in this sphere.
She faces similar conditions here, Southwell should suit and, with the possibility of more to come over fences, the 4lb rise for her victory should be manageable.

13:40 Carlisle - Nab Wood @ 4/1
The Nicky Richards yard is in decent form, 24 per cent over the last fortnight, and his lightly raced eight-year-old NAB WOOD could make his presence felt back down in grade.
Having stayed on well to win at Ayr on reappearance he ran a creditable race when 6th in a Grade 3 Handicap at Haydock 3 weeks ago, only beaten 13 lengths despite being keen early on.
The softer ground here should help him and this will not be as competitive as last time. He has been steadily going up the ratings, but with only 11 runs under his belt there is the possibility of more improvement

14:35 Southwell - Tigers Moon @ 1/1
Having shown little in his first three runs last season TIGERS MOON then hinted at some ability on his final start of the campaign, his handicap debut, when third at Market Rasen.
He has built on that effort in two starts so far this season and this lightly raced five-year-old is likely to continue improving.
He won with plenty in hand on reappearance over two miles at Uttoxeter before possibly not seeing out the longer trip at Fontwell last time out. The form of that race has worked out well though, with the winner going in twice since.
His mark has increased 2lb off the back of that, which is fair, but the step back in trip will undoubtedly help Tom Ellis' charge and is a good bet to resume winning ways.
