Nap of the Day: Silent City to land the spoils at Windsor

You won't want to miss any of the action on Monday and there are some interesting races on offer across the day in Britain and Ireland. Windsor's seven-race card looks particularly interesting and there's a competitive assortment of Class 4 handicaps on offer. Among them is a qualifier for their sprint series and there's one runner in particular who catches the eye and is well set for a big run.

Our expert has selected their best bet of the day and the filly in question represents the Roger Varian yard. She tries a new trip here and it would be no surprise if that facilitates a return to winning ways for the lightly raced and consistent sort.

Horse Racing Odds

There are four rather intriguing Class 4 handicaps on Windsor's Monday evening card and the most interesting of the bunch is the penultimate race, the Download The Fitzdares App Now Handicap, which will be run over 1m2f and has attracted a field of seven.

SILENT CITY represents the Varian yard here and the daughter of Cityscape has made the frame in all but one of her seven starts to date. The only time she has failed to finish in the first three was on debut and there could well be more to come too.

Impressive when winning her maiden here in June 2025, she was prominent throughout the race and kept on well to score by just under four lengths. She also won a Newmarket handicap off a 3lb lower mark in September and was second in Class 3 company after that.

Richard Hannon's Morcar returned to winning ways with a victory at Newbury last time out and he's a serious danger with his confidence restored. The handicapper has put him up 3lb but he managed to win off this mark at Lingfield last year and is likely to be in the mix.

A Major Payne has been in decent form for Michael Bell so far this season and the five-year-old's consistency makes him one to consider. Shady Bay won nicely for Tom Ward at Nottingham in April, although the handicapper has not been kind to her since.

Silent City's most recent effort was pretty decent, considering it was her first start for 212 days, so she's entitled to improve a fair amount for that.

Her consistency is a massive positive and, provided the new trip suits, she can get the job done here.
