Horse Racing Tips: Shotgun Shirley ready to fire at Fontwell

There are four UK meetings taking place on Monday, with jumps action from Fontwell and Musselburgh coming alongside all-weather offerings from Lingfield and Wolverhampton (evening).
My tips for Monday's action are below, including a filly with plenty of scope for better as she goes hurdling for the first time at Fontwell.
Horse Racing Tips - Monday, December 8
- 12:55 Fontwell – The Bellhop @ 1/1
- 14:25 Fontwell – Shotgun Shirley @ 5/4
- 14:45 Musselburgh – Cresthill @ 6/1
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
12:55 Fontwell – The Bellhop @ 1/1
The opening KSR Lighting Juvenile Hurdle at Fontwell could be a chance for the Gary & Josh Moore team to continue their good recent form.
They had four winners during Sandown's Tingle Creek meeting and bagged another with their only runner at Huntingdon on Sunday.
THE BELLHOP made a winning hurdles debut here (2m1½f, good) in early October and found a Listed event at Wetherby too much later that month.
Sights are lowered now and Freddie Mitchell's 5lb claim gives him a decent chance of defeating main market rival Turenne, David Pipe's French import having gone very close on stable debut at Catterick in November.

14:25 Fontwell – Shotgun Shirley @ 5/4
October's Uttoxeter bumper winner SHOTGUN SHIRLEY stepped up on that effort last month when finishing second in a Listed contest at Cheltenham's November Meeting.
Lucy Wadham's Soldier Of Fortune filly now goes jumping hurdles and she does so with the yard amongst the winners lately.
She is closely related to 2m-2m4f hurdle winner Iconic Sky and is a half-sister to four winners including Martello Sky, a useful sort over timber.
The step up in trip here looks sure to suit and her Cheltenham run showed she can handle slow ground.
Plumpton bumper winner Queen's Theatre for Anthony Honeyball is another with claims alongside Shutfrontdoor – a course bumper winner in May for Gary Moore – but Shotgun Shirley has the best form in the book.

14:45 Musselburgh – Cresthill @ 6/1
Just shy of three miles is the trip in the 2blokesgoracing.com Handicap Chase at Musselburgh and the slight drop back in trip looks like a positive for CRESTHILL.
The seven-year-old is a maiden under Rules but he has won a couple of point-to-points, including last month at Moig South over this sort of trip on testing ground.
He then headed for Sedgefield where he ran well back under Rules but perhaps didn't quite see out three-and-a-quarter-miles as the winner Upfordebate scored in wide-margin fashion.
From an unchanged mark of 91, with no concern on the ground, Kielan Woods' partner should be going close in this line-up.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
