NAP of the Day: Call on Jack to ride another winner on Wednesday

Nap of the day with owen mcmahon 2

A disappointing start to the week for NAP of the Day followers as Queen Sana was brushed aside by one of Richard Hannon's at Bath.

Hopes are high about a return to form on Wednesday, courtesy of one ridden by a claiming jockey I suggest taking advantage of while you can.

Jack Callan is a young jockey going places - and fast.

The 19-year-old apprentice has, as of time of writing, ridden 66 winners from 490 rides in his career to date - a strike rate of 13%. Impressive.

He's in red-hot form at the moment, courtesy of seven winners from his last 18 rides (39%). Seriously impressive.

His three-pound claim is invaluable, which is even more reason to like VIVIANA at Yarmouth on Wednesday.

Callan is on board Charlie Johnston's three-year-old daughter of Oasis Dream, who tackles this six-furlong fillies' novice event after a highly-encouraging debut at Redcar just under a fortnight ago.

She was third of six in North Yorkshire, within two lengths of the Roger Varian-trained winner Egotistical, already rated 70. The runner-up Confide In Me, conceding seven pounds as a result of his debut victory earlier in April, has been given an opening mark of 77.

A decent introduction then, and the fact she was doing all her best work at the finish suggests there's more to come.

She must be a better bet than Creative Queen, who as far as I'm concerned is underpriced on account of connections. Wathnan Racing's €800k breeze-up buy is winless in three starts, missing out to a 50/1 shot conceding 11lbs on her latest one. William Haggas' filly needs the blinkers to bring about significant improvement.

Reigning Queen can give us something to think about. Andrew Balding's Night Of Thunder filly showed ability over the minimum trip at Southwell exactly 15 days ago and rates the sort to take a decent step forward. She needs to, though, as the selection's form is stronger in my book.

Ed Walker's 74-rated Butterfly Beach sets a standard, but it's not a high one at all and she's surely vulnerable on return from over 170 days off the track. Unless she's done particularly well over the winter, I don't see her troubling the judge on Wednesday.

Finally, Secret Harvest is a newcomer that's hard to advise for a trainer who's not exactly known for getting them to excel on the first day at school.

There's lots to like about Viviana, then, who can provide one of the weighing room's hottest prospects yet another winner.
