NAP of the Day: Sangster’s Sana to wash off maiden tag at Bath

A busy week begins, at least for me, on Tuesday and I'm taking a trip to Bath on NAP of the Day duty.

It's one for an up-and-coming trainer who's in good nick at the moment that gets the vote in the third race on the card.

Ollie Sangster's started to hit form over the past couple of weeks, operating at a 24% strike rate courtesy of five winners from 21 runners.

That's a good omen for QUEEN SANA, who's taken to get off the mark in this five-and-a-half-furlong maiden at Bath on Tuesday.

The three-year-old daughter of Ardad is without a win in seven starts, but she's shown enough to suggest she can take a race of this quality.

Her second-place efforts at Wolverhampton in November in particular, conceding weight to subsequent winner Zighy (rated 82) and Diamondinthedark (70).

She's bombed out a couple of times, including when tried over seven furlongs on the penultimate day of last year, but otherwise she's a consistent type.

Last time out, just eight days ago, was probably a career-best as Queen Sana was just touched off in a 10-runner handicap at Windsor.

The winner, Coyy for Eve Johnson Houghton, was having his second run after wind surgery, off a mark that'd dropped eight pounds in a short space of time. Time may tell he was rather well-handicapped that day.

That was the selection's turf debut and first attempt over the minimum trip of five furlongs - both of which seemed to bring out the best in her. Back on the grass on Tuesday, but over half a furlong longer. That shouldn't be a problem.

For my money, this is a modest event and under Rossa Ryan, she ought to take a bit of beating.

Noble Vow can give us the most to think about. If Richard Hannon's son of No Nay Never can recapture his two-year-old form, which earned him a rating of 76, he's a huge danger. His two efforts this term have been really poor, though.

Warren Greatrex's four-year-old In The City concedes over a stone to Queen Sana on return from almost 300 days off the track. His form is decent, but not decent enough as far as I'm concerned to pull this off.

Likewise, this is a big ask for debutant Far From Fern, whose trainer has never saddled a three-year-old winner - while Princess Of Limnos is impossible to advise on what she's done to date.

It's Noble Vow to beat for me, as the market suggests, and I'm hopeful Queen Sana will do exactly that.
