Nap of the day generic

There's lots of racing action on Monday as we move into the month of June, with six meetings across Britain and Ireland to begin the week. They come from Lingfield, Newbury, Windsor and Wolverhampton (AW) in Britain, while it is a Bank Holiday in Ireland and they boast action on the level at Gowran Park and over jumps from Listowel.

The eight-race Gowran Park card runs from 13:29 through until 17:29 on Monday and is headlined by the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Gowran Classic (15:44) where trainer Joseph O'Brien is fancied to land successive renewals.

The veteran Hamish is the horse to beat in this race according to the handicapper, as the veteran has a rating of 117. William Haggas’s other runner Tenability might also prove popular but it could be ARABIAN CROWN in the Godolphin blue who comes out on top.

The five-year-old remains relatively lightly raced for his age and his best form in the last couple of seasons suggests he should be going close. Charlie Appleby’s gelding looked very smart as a two-year-old and he stayed as far as 1m2f in those days.

He could only manage third on debut at Sandown but managed to get off the mark with an impressive display over the same course and distance after that. Connections then put him in a Salisbury Listed race and he was much too good for his rivals on that occasion.

A trip to Newmarket for the Group 3 Zetland Stakes was next on the agenda and he showed an abundance of stamina to win by five-and-a-half lengths over 1m2f on soft ground. That form received a boost as well, with the third going on to win the Ballysax Stakes..

Arabian Crown made the perfect start to his three-year-old career in the Classic Trial at Sandown and bolted up once again, getting the better of Macduff by three-and-a-quarter-lengths, and it’s unfortunate that he missed the rest of the campaign.

It took him a while to get back to somewhere near his best at four last year but he did manage to win a Listed contest over 1m3f at Windsor on his final start in August.

He might need to find another level in this warm race but he’s definitely capable of doing so.
