Nap of the day generic

We've been treated to some excellent racing this week and Sunday shows no signs of that stopping.

Although the Punchestown Festival finished on Saturday, we have top-class action from Newmarket and four further meetings across Britain and Ireland.

You won't want to miss Newmarket's seven-race card and the main event is the Betfred 1000 Guineas , for which a substantial field of 17 has been declared. The Group action doesn’t stop there however, as the Group 2 Dahlia Stakes is on the agenda too. Our expert has picked out their Nap of the Day and the horse in question runs in the big one - one of two Ballydoyle entries, the filly in question produced the highest level of form as a juvenile and the progressive three-year-old looks like the one to beat.

Aidan O'Brien is going through a bit of a lean spell in Britain's first two Classics of the season, despite having trained 10 winners of the 2000 Guineas and seven in the fillies' equivalent. PRECISE heads the market this year and for very good reason.

This daughter of Starspangledbanner has a very smart pedigree and her dam is sister to Kingfisher, who was a useful stayer for O'Brien. Whilst her dam's pedigree suggests middle distances, she has clearly inherited enough speed from her sprinting sire.

The six-furlong trip was a little on the short side on her debut at Fairyhouse in July, but she stuck to her task well after initially being outpaced and stayed on for second. Going up to 7f next time, that did the trick and she managed to get off the mark by just shy of three lengths.

Black Caviar Gold was back in fourth that day and she has since gone on to win at Group 3 level, providing a substantial boost to the form. She headed to Goodwood for the Group 3 Prestige Fillies' Stakes next and kept on well to win and the third won the May Hill next time.

O'Brien's filly wasn't considered to be the yard's first string in the Moyglare and Christophe Soumillon chose to ride Composing. Ronan Whelan got the chance to ride Precise and the pair managed to come out on top once again, with Venetian Sun back in third.

Her most impressive performance came over course and distance in the Fillies' Mile in September and she was much too good for the rest of the field on that occasion.

Stamina won't be an issue with that in mind and there should be more to come.
