Nap of the Day: Jannas Journey not finished just yet

It's a busy start to the racing week with five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Monday.

Jumps action comes from Hereford, while they race on the Flat at Musselburgh, Yarmouth, Roscommon and Kempton (AW). Monday's NAP is one of two Jim Goldie runners heading to the feature race at Musselburgh and could be well placed to ensure the trainer bags successive renewals.

Jim Goldie won the British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap a year ago with Rock Melody and the Fascinating Rock mare is one of two contenders for his yard now.

She has last year's winning rider Amie Waugh on board, claiming 3lb, and is rated 3lb below last year's winning mark.

She is, though, 0-10 since and hasn't really looked like obliging in that sequence. Her best effort was here over course and distance in September, when fourth. She is a four-time winner around Musselburgh but today may not be her day for number five.

A field of seven are engaged in this Class 3 contest over 7f and, in truth, they all have a question of some form or another over them.

Grant Tuer's Bellarchi has two wins this year, including over C&D in August, but is 6lb above that mark now.

The second Goldie contender is JANNAS JOURNEY, a four-year-old daughter of Sioux Nation with a very healthy 7-16 strike-rate on turf.

All of those wins have come since July, including a five-timer in just one month. Two more September wins followed, one here over track and trip and one at Ayr (7f, soft).

She went up 8lb for that most recent win and was third over 1m1f at Hamilton on her penultimate start before running creditably at York (1m, good) most recently in a valuable Class 2 contest, finishing sixth of 17 under Cam Hardie.

He retains that partnership now, dropped 1lb by the assessor and eased in grade. Those two recent efforts have hinted she's capable of winning in this sort of company and this doesn't appear the strongest of Class 3 races.

Victorious on her only start here previously, this progressive filly looks well placed to give her trainer successive wins in this contest.
