NAP of the Day: Mission far from impossible on the Knavesmire

There’s another day of top-class action from York on Friday afternoon with a cracking seven-race card. The Yorkshire Cup is the main event but there are several competitive handicaps on the card and Betfred are paying extra places in those three contests.
Friday’s NAP of the day comes in the one mile Listed contest on the Knavesmire and the selection could have a class edge against the rivals she meets on Friday.
This year's Fillies' Stakes (14:20) at York looks like it could be a race to follow with several nice prospects lining up, but one Juddmonte-owned contender could be a tough nut to crack given the standard she sets on form.
Pacific Mission is the horse in question. This daughter of Lope De Vega was progressive last season, looking green on her Ascot debut before bolting up on the all-weather at Kempton second time out and she ran a huge race when stepped up to this trip for the first time in the May Hill at Doncaster, a Group 2 contest.
That form has been boosted by a couple of rivals in behind winning at Pattern level since.
The selection then went on to the Breeders' Cup where she was only beaten roughly a length when runner-up in the Grade 1 Juvenile Fillies' Turf and that’s an effort worth marking up having started slowly (a big disadvantage at Del Mar).
With that form also boosted since, PACIFIC MISSION has proven that she's a Group horse already and her trainer, Andrew Balding, has been in cracking form since the start of the turf season.
There's an argument to say that she should be favourite for this with an experience edge over her rivals and she makes plenty of appeal at 10/3 with Betfred.
