Nap of the day with owen mcmahon

It was the perfect start to the week for Nap of the Day followers as Seaview Rock, advised at 13/8, bolted up at Leicester on Tuesday. If only they were all so easy...

On Wednesday, we go to Catterick - the only National Hunt meeting of the day - in a bid to go back-to-back.

If he jumps off, MY BOBBY DAZZLER must have a great chance of gaining his first win in two-and-a-half years at Catterick on Wednesday.

Having tipped one at Market Rasen last Friday, I was following the pre-race market quite closely, and I couldn't believe the amount of support for Mel Rowley's 11-year-old.

The son of Malinas was smashed into 3/1f, causing my 13/8 selection to drift all the way out to an SP of 10/3.

Clearly, there was a lot of confidence behind him - and ultimately plenty of burnt fingers as he refused to race at the start and was soon pulled up by jockey Toby McCain-Mitchell, who keeps the ride on Wednesday. More on him in a moment.

I think that support is significant. He was running off a career-low mark of 109, over fences for the first time in a couple of years - and just the fourth time in his career.

It would be naive to expect him to perform to the same level as when last seen over the bigger obstacles, but at the same time there's reasons to expect improvement.

This is also, at least in theory, an easier race than the one he was sent off favourite for the last day, being a veterans' chase for conditional jockeys.

On that front, let's return to the topic of Wednesday's pilot, Mr. McCain-Mitchell. His strike rate of 19%, courtesy of 37 winners from 194 runners, over the past five years is extremely impressive for a conditional, making him a huge asset in these events.

With him in the saddle, I think My Bobby Dazzler has as good a chance as any in this field and is my idea of Wednesday's best bet.
