Nap of the Day: Elizabeth’s Legacy to make the breakthrough

There are five meetings across the UK and Ireland on Monday, with a mix of Flat, jumps and all-weather action to cater for all tastes. There are nine-race meetings from Lingfield and Newcastle's all-weather tracks, while the Flat turf action is from Windsor, where they also stage nine races, and they go over jumps at Perth and Galway on a busy day with 41 races on the programme.

Monday's Nap of the Day has improved in a couple of recent runs at Ayr and could continue her progress again, going up in trip at Windsor for Mick & David Easterby.

Another minor step up in trip could be just the tonic as ELIZABETH'S LEGACY seeks to shed her maiden tag at the ninth time of asking.

The Ardad filly didn't offer much in four runs last season at trips up to an extended mile on varying conditions.

Her opening two runs of this season at Beverley and Ripon were similar, but, after a mid-season break, she has taken a couple of positive steps forward at Ayr more recently.

In late July, she was third over 1m2f (good) behind Zebra Star, with the runner-up scoring next time, and she was then fourth over the same C&D last month.

She sported first-time cheekpieces that afternoon and was closing at the line, narrowly missing out on third spot.

That contest has also worked out quite nicely, with Sophiesticate (second), Dwindling Funds (third) and Mystical Drama (sixth) all scoring since.

Elizabeth's Legacy hinted in that run that the extra furlong and a half here will be a positive.

The handicapper has eased her another 1lb in the ratings, and she looks like one who can improve over middle distances at this modest level, especially with that previous start at Ayr beginning to look well above average for the grade.
