Lucky 15 Tips: Newmarket stages glittering Saturday contests

Superb racing is the order of the day on Saturday and there's a cracking meeting at Newmarket, with the first three on the card covered by ITV (and us, in our companion piece embracing all nine televised races).

That leaves four contests at HQ which lend themselves beautifully to comprising our Lucky 15 Tips. Newmarket kicks in at 13:30 but our L15 takes in the last four, commencing with the 15:15. If you're playing, as always, have fun!

15:15 - Lyneham @ 11/8

Cracking two-year-old 1m maiden with some notable yards in opposition.

I'm going with Ralph Beckett's Wootton Bassett colt Lyneham, out of a Galileo mare, who has had one run to date. At Donny three weeks ago on Betfred St Leger day he finished a head second, at this trip, and it was 4.5l back to the third (an Appleby-trained even-money hotpot that's subsequently come within a head of taking an HQ maiden).

Good start then for owners Al Shaqab Racing & Amo Racing, and with likely improvement he could be very difficult to contain. The quite brilliant Rossa Ryan, on board in South Yorkshire, again has the riding assignment.

15:50 - Hot Flame @ 11/4

Team Gosden field this three-year-old Too Darn Hot filly, rated 93.

Hot Flame has only run three times in her life - a debut win at Yarmouth last backend, and this season a second here in a novice then a comfortable success at Haydock on handicap bow off a mark of 89.

Plenty of ability then, and as last time represented a massive personal best, there's no telling what this young lady might be capable of in time. Rab Havlin rides, in the famous Oppenheimer silks of Golden Horn among others.

Tremendous race.

16:25 - Sierra Sands @ 11/8

More bright young things - two-year-old maidens looking to make their marks.

The once-raced Sierra Sands has plenty going for him - a son of Gimcrack winner at this age Sands Of Mali, and showing undoubted ability in finishing a half-length second in a similar affair at Leicester 12 days ago.

Ed Dunlop trains and Rossa Ryan takes the mount for the first time, as Billy Loughnane was on top last time. Evidently well-regarded and has an outstanding chance.

17:00 - Bright Times Ahead @ 5/2

It's the Rossa Ryan show - here's another for the young maestro, a three-year-old Lope De Vega filly trained by Ralph Beckett in Hampshire and owned by Mrs Doreen Tabor.

Five runs so far for this one, winning here on debut in a novice then being thrown in at the deep end in a Newbury G3 (the Fred Darling, and unsurprisingly well beaten).

The last two have been progressive showings in handicaps, with an Ascot second when last seen four weeks ago being the pick (beaten 3.25l in a Class 2, off 80).

Bright Times Ahead is off 80 again this afternoon and is another with a very clear, exciting opportunity.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
