Lucky 15 Tips - Saturday, November 29
Wolverhampton
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
16:30 - Palmeira @ 6/4
Charles Bishop rides this quite experienced two-year-old filly by Havana Grey, still looking to break her duck after nine spins but having been very highly tried so far.
Palmeira is swimming in much calmer waters than of late - her last two runs have been in Newmarket G3 and Listed heats - and by way of contrast today's assignment is a £3k+ novice stakes get-together.
Looks to have an outstanding opportunity.
17:00 - Lavender Gold @ 11/8
The aforementioned Billy the Kid Loughnane rides for West Sussex trainer David Menuisier, his only entry on the card.
Lavender Gold is another two-year-old, a colt this time with just the three runs to date, and for two of them champ Oisin Murphy was on board so I'm thinking connections think quite fondly of him.
No trees have been uprooted just yet but it's early days and he's not been beaten far in any of those contests. Entitled to go close on what he's done already and Billy is a great booking.
The selection makes his handicap debut in this nursery and I'm napping him.
17:30 - Adalida @ 7/4
The shrewd Stuart Williams journeys from Newmarket with another juvenile, an Ardad filly with five perfectly respectable runs behind her.
She's kept to novice company for now and on Racing Post ratings has a very bright theoretical chance for Stuart, the owner Mr Willis and jockey Marco Ghiani.
Adalida goes 6f tonight and makes her all-weather debut. Stuart's only just received the horse from Dave Evans' yard and I do like the jockey engagement, one of just two for Marco on the card.
18:00 - Mersea Island @ 7/4
Staying handicappers travel 1m 6f for this Class 3 heat, and I think we might be on a fairly decent trajectory with Charlie Johnston's Mersea Island.
The three-year-old Sea The Stars gelding dotted up at Southwell over a mile-and-a-half 26 days ago, and steps up in trip (2f) and class with a 6lb penalty to defy.
Jack Mitchell takes over from Joe Fanning in the saddle and judging by Southwell, where you really do have to 'get home,' this additional yardage could be a real bonus.
It was a chunky career-best too, so further improvement can't possibly be ruled out, especially as he won't turn four until all racehorses have their birthday on January 1. The Johnston yard are operating at a very healthy 24% strike-rate just now and everything points to a big run.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £80 for a £7.50 total stake.
