Lucky 15 Tips: Plaid set to do better for Fanshawe

There are four race meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Monday, with something to cater for all tastes. Jumps action is from Ludlow, while the turf season continues from Navan and there are all-weather cards at Kempton and Wolverhampton (evening).
Below are my Lucky 15 picks from across the cards for Monday's racing action.
Lucky 15 tips - Monday, March 30
- 14:57 Ludlow – Moonlightinthepark @ 15/2
- 15:10 Kempton – Plaid @ 5/4
- 16:10 Kempton – Shamacid @ 12/1
- 20:30 Wolverhampton – First Encounter @ 7/2
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
14:57 Ludlow – Moonlightinthepark @ 15/2
Lynsey Larue and Kit's Coty are amongst the likely contenders in the G.C.Rickards Mares' Handicap Chase at Ludlow but MOONLIGHTINTHEPARK is one that could be underestimated on chase bow for Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero.
The Walk In The Park mare was second in her only start in a point-to-point in Ireland behind The Flaggy Shore in May last year.
Her efforts over hurdles have been nothing to write home about but they mostly came over inadequate trips around 2m and the step up in distance here promises to suit from a mark of 91 now sent over the larger obstacles in a race where the likely principles don't set an impossible standard.
15:10 Kempton – Plaid @ 5/4
Last-time-out winners Art Gallery and PLAID could be the pair to focus on for this Fillies' Handicap over a mile at Kempton.
James Ferguson's daughter of St Mark's Basilica got on the scoresheet in a 7f Newcastle novice in December, always well placed before fending off odds-on favourite Viking Glory. The form of that race has taken some knocks though and an opening mark of 75 demands more.
Plaid opened her account a day later in December over track and trip, the Ghaiyyath filly building on the promise of her debut second at Nottingham in October.
She was strong through the line and that contest has thrown up a couple of subsequent winners. James Fanshawe's filly is rated 1lb lower and has more scope for progress than her main market rival.
16:10 Kempton – Shamacid @ 14/1
SHAMACID has been proving a bit too keen in his races recently, with blinkers and more recently a visor tried in vain to help him settle.
A tongue-tie is the aid of choice now and there seems little doubt the four-year-old gelding could be well-treated off a mark of 67 when he learns to race more evenly.
He had some notable novice runs at Newcastle and Southwell and is still finding his way in handicaps. Dropping back to 7f looks a positive with Hollie Doyle returning in the saddle and the market could underestimate their chance.
20:30 Wolverhampton – First Encounter @ 7/2
Luke Morris and FIRST ENCOUNTER have enjoyed a fine time of it this year with form figures of 121 in three runs since January.
That sequence started with a course-and-distance win and included a slender defeat and further success over Lingfield's mile trip in February.
The most recent of those wins was perhaps attained with more in hand than the half-length winning margin suggested.
A 2lb rise in the ratings may prove lenient. In-form rivals like Captain Pickles, Take The A Train and Arlecchino's Rex are sure to pose questions but The Sniper may have them in his sights as Morris targets another victory.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £1,350 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
