Lucky 15 Tips: The champ’s at Hereford – and so are we

There's a six-race card at Hereford on Wednesday afternoon, first contest at 14:30, that's an ideal source for our Lucky 15 tips. Sean Bowen's here, and quite frankly that's more than good enough for me. Enjoy!

14:30 - Lelant @ 5/2
The brilliant Sean Bowen has two rides on the card, and it really does look like this is his big chance (2m 5f handicap chase) of landing yet another winner in this stellar season.
Lelant has had the inestimable benefit of the champ on his back the last twice - a comfortable success off a mark of 88 at Market Rasen, then being stuck in the mud and not firing a couple of weeks later at Fontwell.
The eight-year-old Soldier Of Fortune gelding has had a nice break of 107 days to get over that disappointment, and on what's highly likely to be decent ground can carry on where he left off, albeit up now as high as 93 this afternoon.
Evan Williams was previously listed as his trainer but in recent days the horse is presently noted as being in the care of Mrs C Williams. Terrific chance to resume winning ways.
15:30 - Kernie d'Airy @ 10/3
Gavin Sheehan rides for Jamie Snowden, and there's the small matter of an absence of 410 days for this young lady to overcome.
It's not however a deep-looking 2m 3.5f maiden hurdle and Kernie d'Airy, with one win from just two starts, is taken to show all the promise heralded by a debut win in her native France back in Nov 2024, when trained by Hugo Merriene.
One run only for Jamie, a too-bad-to-be-true effort at Newbury over 13 months ago. One hopes she's over whatever was ailing her, and the Snowden/Sheehan combo are frequent visitors to the winners' circle.
The six-year-old It's Gino mare has been persisted with and I'm hoping it's because she's potentially talented. Connections deserve a bit of luck, as does the mare, for the patience shown all round.
16:00 - Madame De Labrunie @ 5/2
A 2m novices' handicap hurdle now, and we're siding with a Fergal O'Brien inmate who has one win from 11 career starts to date.
Madame De Labrunie is a four-year-old French-bred filly who has been with Fergal since November. She has shown some modest ability in three runs for the yard but been rather highly tried, including in a Listed heat; and for her first UK handicap she runs off a mark of 101.
Jockey Jonathan Burke is operating at a strike-rate of some 23% over the past fortnight and after a nice break of 49 days a much more competitive showing is expected today.
16:30 - Reel Orange @ 6/4
Fine jockey Brendan Powell rides this seven-year-old daughter of G1-winning Ballydoyle superstar Highland Reel - namely Reel Orange. Beautifully bred, with the dam by Derby winner Authorized, she could relish this anticipated decent ground and register a deserved first success.
She finished second last time 19 days ago at Exeter, looking to still be something of a work-in-progress after 10 career starts. Her trainer Joe Tizzard is a master of his craft and has only had her since late February.
Jockey and handler will be learning about her every day and given some improvement and progress from last time in Devon, then today could be a red-letter one.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £188 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
