15:45 Chelmsford - Aberama Gold @ 12/1
It's less than two years since ABERAMA GOLD won the Stewards' Cup, one of the biggest sprint handicaps on the calendar. He is now extremely well handicapped and worth siding with at a course where he has won before.
The last time he ran at Chelmsford, Aberama Gold finished second as favourite behind Rebel Path. That horse is now rated 10lb higher in the weights, which shows the task the selection faced that day.
Since the turf season restarted, Aberama Gold has tended to face stiffer tasks than this, reflecting his former glory. Back in more everyday company now, he has strong claims of getting back to winning ways.
16:00 Nottingham - Nightbird @ 8/1
In this fillies' handicap, three-year-olds mix it with older horses. Despite the former group's relative inexperience, being so unexposed usually overrides that and their record against older horses is good.
NIGHTBIRD looks the likeliest to take advantage here. She used a run here in April to get fit, then won at Wolverhampton. She was easy to back at Yarmouth 18 days ago, but has more in her favour this time.
This will be the first time Nightbird has run against older horses. In practice that would cancel out the fact she is technically going up in grade, from a Class 5 to a Class 4. She has a decent draw and is one to side with against more exposed rivals.
16:45 Chelmsford - Kitty Furnival @ 9/2
It's true of most staying races on the Flat that they reward horses that can settle and then pick up strongly as the pace increases in the last three furlongs or so.
This effect is even more pronounced on the all-weather, so it is to KITTY FURNIVAL's credit that she has been running so well in similar races.
Kitty Furnival's last five runs have seen her finish first at Kempton and Wolverhampton, third at Wolverhampton, as well as second at Southwell and Lingfield.
They have all been over 1m4f, but she has been shaped as though longer trips will be within her scope and she has the tools to make it as an all-weather stayer.
17:45 Chelmsford - Catch Cunningham @ 12/1
The time has been coming for CATCH CUNNINGHAM for quite a long period and he can take advantage now with conditions and the draw being in his favour.
Stall five is not exactly a race-winner for the selection. However, most of the interesting horses are drawn wide, and over five furlongs at Chelmsford that can be hard to overcome.
On his last run three weeks ago, Catch Cunningham was just touched off at Lingfield by an improving horse. He deals well with big fields, partly because he races better covered up, and can use this 12-runner event to land a first win since September.
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £6.3k for your total £7.50 stake.
