Horse Racing Tips: Connacht Oaks prize awaits Lady In Paris

Lots of midweek racing action across Britain and Ireland with six meetings taking place on Wednesday.
Afternoon action is from Brighton and Pontefract before evening fare from Yarmouth, Sligo, Kempton (all-weather) and Wexford (jumps). My three best bets from across Wednesday's card are below including a progressive filly looking to land the feature race at Sligo for Jessica Harrington.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, August 6
- 15:30 Pontefract - Distinction @ 3/1
- 15:45 Brighton - Man Of La Mancha @ 15/8
- 17:20 Sligo - Lady In Paris @ 11/4
*odds correct at time of publication
15:30 Pontefract - Distinction @ 3/1
The RIU Hotels And Resorts Ladies Day Veterans' Handicap at Pontefract looks a good opportunity for DISTINCTION to nail another win at the Yorkshire venue for trainer John Mackie.
The Kodiac gelding is a six-time turf winner in his career and a couple of those wins have come at Pontefract, including over course and distance last summer.
He also scored here over 1m2f in June this year and returns off the back of his most recent success at Beverley (1m2f, soft) last month.
There were just seven runners that evening but Distinction had to be patient waiting for room before coming through very late on to get the verdict.
He is only 3lb higher in the ratings and was value for this win. His C&D success came from this mark and, in his current mood, this looks a good piece of placement.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
15:45 Brighton - Man Of La Mancha @ 15/8
The feature race at the seaside is the Brighton Mile Challenge Handicap, a Class 4 contest that has attracted a solid field of 12 contenders.
Last-time-out winners Enrolled and Jiff's Army have form claims, as does Havana Mojito, but preference is for MAN OF LA MANCHA for the in-form Ralph Beckett yard.
The Lope De Vega gelding was a winner at Windsor (1m, good to firm) in May on his turf debut, justifying favouritism and showing improved form on handicap bow off a mark of 71.
He has run well in three further starts, including a runner-up finish at Sandown (1m, good) in this grade 12 days ago.
The horse that beat him, Indalo, has run well from 5lb higher at Glorious Goodwood since. Man Of La Mancha had to wait for a gap before running on strongly at Sandown and while rated 1lb higher for that silver medal finish, he remains with scope for better.

17:20 Sligo - Lady In Paris @ 11/4
The feature race from Ireland is the Connacht Oaks Fillies Handicap at Sligo over an extended mile-and-a-quarter and it looks a very competitive event.
Thatwilldoso was a Galway Races winner on Saturday and carries a 7lb penalty for trainer Kevin Coleman, while Grizabella was a wide-margin winner at Ballinrobe last month and is a former C&D winner here. The Bobby's Kitten mare is 11lb higher in the ratings for her win 16 days ago.
LADY IN PARIS is fancied to trump them both for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley. The Blue Point filly has won two of her last three starts at Leopardstown (1m1f, good) and the Curragh (1m2f, good to yielding), and was placed in a valuable contest at the Kildare venue in between times.
She did it nicely at the Curragh last time and while the handicapper applies some pressure with an 8lb rise, her three-year-old allowance makes this a very viable target. She looks progressive and can fend off fellow 3YO Annie's Angel for the Joseph O'Brien/Dylan McMonagle team.
