Horse Racing Tips: Ambiente a Friendly bet for punters

Flat racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with three of the five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening on the level. 

First off is lovely Listowel at 14:14 before they go at Nottingham (14:20), Kilbeggan (14:26), Fakenham (14:35) and Thirsk (15:45).

Amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer James Owen who once finished second in the Derby and should now have his sights set on winning an average handicap hurdle at Fakenham.

14:35 Fakenham - Madajovy @ 9/1

Fakenham might not be the busiest of places on Sunday but our job is to find winners and topweight MADAJOVY should prove too strong for his rivals in the opening handicap hurdle over the extended 2m7f.

Granted, it's not a good sign of ability if Dan Skelton failed to get a win out of this six-year-old from nine outings, but he finished runner-up in handicaps at Warwick (2m3f) and Plumpton (3m1f) in December/February, and is now 2lb below that latest effort.

Now in the hands of Louise Allan who had a handicap hurdle winner at Carlisle in April, Madajovy was in need of the run on yard debut when pulled up in a 0-110 at Southwell earlier this month, but this is a much less competitive contest and he should strip fitter now.

16:07 Fakenham - Ambiente Friendly @ 6/5

Trainer James Owen has targeted the 2m handicap hurdle at Fakenham in recent times as he has been victorious in this race in each of the last three years, and AMBIENTE FRIENDLY should be well up to providing the yard with a fourth consecutive winner.

Once a high-class horse on the Flat with a peak rating of 118 and runner-up in the 2024 Derby, he has regressed since joining this stable, with his sole win coming in a Huntingdon novices' hurdle in December.

Ambiente Friendly contested a valuable Sandown handicap when last seen and finished in midfield which was just an okay effort, but he will face just three rivals here and will not find a better opportunity to get his head in front.

16:30 Kilbeggan - Billie Frechette @ SP

The final selection of the day runs in the 2m4f beginners' chase at Kilbeggan and Noel Meade's BILLIE FRECHETTE can make it third time lucky over larger obstacles in the capable hands of Sam Ewing.

The two-time Flat winner has also won over hurdles, and she made a very pleasing chase debut when runner-up to a Willie Mullins-trained runner at this track over 2m6f in April, beaten around 17 lengths.

Killarney didn't seem to suit her style of running last time where she finished fourth but it was still a good effort considering the first three home were prominent throughout and she just couldn't reel them in.

However, she should have a much better chance back at Kilbeggan and the promise of better ground will also be right in her favour. The yard had a nice winner at Ballinrobe a few days ago.
