Horse Racing Tips: Bobby Bennu back on track at Chester

Flat racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Sunday with three meetings taking place across the afternoon. First off is the mixed jumps and flat card at Galway before they go at Chester and Yarmouth.
Amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer Ed Walker who will be looking to build on an impressive reappearance.

15:52 Chester - Celandine @ 9/4
After a reasonably successful juvenile campaign, including winning the Group 2 Lowther Stakes, Celandine made her belated reappearance this season three weeks ago in the Group 3 Summer Stakes at York and showed that she has improved over the winter.
Considering she was coming off a 286-day break she ran reasonably well, running prominently through the early part of the race but her lack of match fitness showed in the closing stages and she just lost second toward the finish. It was a promising start to her season though and one she should be able to build upon here.
She does her best work on drier ground so the conditions should suit and she looks to be well drawn in stall two. With a run under her belt she should build upon her reappearance now down in a Listed Race and looks very much the one to beat.

16:12 Yarmouth - Arundel @ 11/8
Arundel had an unremarkable start to his career but has really come into his own since being upped in trip to 10 furlongs, posting two second places and a win at Pontefract in May.
Each time he has shown steady progress from not quite seeing the trip on on his first attempt at 1m2f, staying on well for his first career win at Pontefract, then overcoming a 4lb raise in the weights and a huge bump at the start of his race last time out to again stay on well to take second place when all looked lost.
He shapes as though he may want further in time and will have to contend with another 3lb raise in the handicap. However, his recent performances suggest that he is still on a reasonable mark and there may still be more to come from him.
It is interesting to see he has had cheekpieces added and, if they sharpen him up, he has a good chance of getting a second career win.

16:52 Chester - Bobby Bennu @ 11/4
The usually consistent Bobby Bennu was tried without his usual hood on his reappearance on the turf back in May and he seemed to play up without it. He was unruly at the post and clearly used up all his energy before the race, which was shown as he weakened with a furlong to go.
It is arguable that he needed a run after a 145-day break, but the hood was put back on him when last seen at Haydock a month ago and the improvement in his attitude was noticeable.
He was much calmer going behind and while he did not get off to the best of starts, being carried right by one in the stall next to him, he ran a strong race and looked to be making a move for the lead at the right time and was only just held by the eventual winner. It was a much improved performance and one he can build on here.
He has a win to his name at Chester over slightly further which suggests he is able to handle the unique nature of the track and looks well drawn for this in stall five. If the hood has the desired effect again he should go well.
