Horse Racing Tips: Analogical to go in again at Pontefract

We had a dramatic weekend of racing at Epsom and it's going to be a much more low-key start to the week, with five fixtures taking place across Britain and Ireland on Monday. Ireland's only meeting is provided by Roscommon in the evening, with Flat action coming from Carlisle, Leicester, Windsor and Pontefract over in Britain.
We've got three strong fancies to follow across the card and chief among them is a Sir Mark Prescott-trained runner at Pontefract. The horse in question managed to win last time out and is well set to follow up, as it could be a while before the handicapper catches up. Check out my Horse Racing Tips below.

16:35 Leicester - Crystal Mariner @ 16/1
Jamie Osborne is failed to land a winner from 13 runners in the last fortnight, but CRYSTAL MARINER looks well set to put an end to the trainer's losing run. This six-year-old looked badly in need of the run when making his seasonal debut at Chepstow and will improve plenty.
He has four career victories to his name so far and three of them have come on the all-weather, with the most recent coming at Kempton in October. William Carver was also on board that day and he showed a good attitude to get the better of Sportingsilvermine.
Crystal Mariner was also a comfortable winner over the same course and distance a month before that, with the more recent win coming off a mark of 81.
It's likely that he can be competitive off just a 3lb higher mark and he bolted up on turf over 1m2f last summer too.

19:30 Pontefract - Analogical @ 9/4
Sir Mark Prescott has a 25 per cent strike rate at Pontefract in the last five seasons and that is a very positive omen for ANALOGICAL on Monday. Her record on turf is rock-solid, with three wins and three placed efforts in just eight starts on grass.
Stepping up to middle-distance trips made a massive difference to her last season and she scored comfortably over 1m4f on her handicap debut at Beverley back in May 2025. She managed to score over course and distance a couple of starts later, which is a big plus.
Taking her form to a new level this term, she bolted up at Newcastle in April and scored again on the turf at Catterick on her most recent start. A 2lb rise shouldn't make a great deal of difference and the four-year-old can win again before the handicapper catches up.

19:39 Windsor - Bassenthwaite @ 11/1
We learnt plenty about Clive Cox's BASSENTHWAITE last time out and that below-par effort can be easily excused, as he looked badly in need of the run and the stiff 6f trip clearly didn't suit. Back down to the minimum trip here, a much improved performance is expected.
There's plenty to like about the form of his Ffos Las novice success last season, as Hilitany was back in second that day and he has since gone on to win at Listed level. The fact that he managed to get the better of him by just shy of a length is definitely a good sign.
He bolted up in a 5f handicap at Wolverhampton on just his second start in handicaps last term and it's no surprise that the handicapper responded with an 11lb rise off the back of that.
However, the son of Ardad is potentially still ahead of the handicapper.
