Lucky 15 Tips: Yarmouth is Wednesday’s seaside special

Tuesday 9th June 2026, 17:39

Yarmouth was the very first racecourse I ever attended, back in the days before black and white. It was tucked up in a pram though, so my recollection is sadly non-existent.

Pound to a penny I backed (well, you know what I mean) a fast-finisher who didn't quite get up, and dropped my ice cream in the excitement. High time to lay those ghosts so let's enjoy another afternoon at the seaside for our Lucky 15 tips in the company of Silvestre De Sousa, Tom Marquand, Cieren Fallon and company. Nice 5/1 winner kicked us off yesterday and more of the same would be spot on.

Horse Racing Odds

14:48 Yarmouth - Quadrillion @ 11/4

Juddmonte field two in this 7f maiden, and it looks a very warm little contest for the princely sum of just over £5k.

The one I like here is a three-year-old Kingman filly out of a Frankel mare, the sensationally-bred Quadrillion. Harry Charlton trains in Wiltshire, and Lewis Edmunds is the lucky fella with the riding assignment.

The selection is making her seasonal reappearance and ran twice last term. The second of those spins was at Leicester, where she finished a running-on runner-up, 5l adrift of a Karl Burke inmate who this season has won the Greenham and finished 4.75l behind Gstaad in the Irish 2000 Guineas.

Her two likeliest market rivals haven't seen a racecourse yet and of course could be anything, and some tip-top yards are involved. Wouldn't swap her though - should be an informative and potentially thrilling contest.

16:18 Yarmouth - Cloudy Rose @ 13/2

Popular Newmarket handler John Wathen Berry turned 60 the other day and as he loves having a winner at Yarmouth he might just have cause to celebrate, slightly belatedly, courtesy of his eight-year-old mare Cloudy Rose.

She has six wins from 47 starts all told, and is an admirably consistent sort. She'll welcome I reckon any mention of the word 'soft' in the going description (every chance), and she's slipped to what looks like an appealing handicap mark, just 50 - her lowest for 12 months.

This 1m 6f trip will hold no terrors and the excellent Gina Mangan, who knows the horse well, is in the plate.

16:50 Yarmouth - Sprightly Dance @ 13/8

This four-year-old Camelot filly is reappearing after a 196-day break to make her handicap debut for trainer Roger Varian and jockey Jack Mitchell.

Sprightly Dance has shown lots of promise in her three spins to date and won her maiden by 5.5l no less at Wolves in the middle one of those runs. This opening mark of 85 shows the assessor has a healthy regard for her ability and she'll have her supporters in this Class 4 test at a mile.

The mighty Camelot sired Saturday's Betfred Derby winner Christmas Day and might have another success here, albeit at slightly more modest levels.

17:20 Yarmouth - Lady Of Clover @ 11/4

George Scott took a Group 1 in his stride at Epsom at weekend, a first, and he saddles a Kodi Bear filly here in the shape of Lady Of Clover.

This three-year-old is one-from-seven all told in her fledgling career, that success being last time out at Wolves in a classified stakes heat eight days ago. Connections come to the well swiftly in search of a repeat, and prior to that last outing she'd finished second here in a similar race beaten 1.25l after meeting with interference.

She's off the same mark, 49, as last time on this course and frankly looks like a winner waiting to happen - again. Liam Wright claims a handy 5lb off her back and she'd be my idea of the NAP selection at the meeting.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £340 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
