Horse Racing Tips: Appleby to land a third winner in the Vintage Stakes?

Day one of the 2026 Goodwood Festival gets underway on Tuesday but there are also four other race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland. I've taken a good look at the cards on offer to pick out my Daily Double.

14:25 Goodwood: Al Hudaiba @ 2/1

The Group 2 Vintage Stakes is the second race of the day at Goodwood and for me there is only one standout runner in the field. AL HUDAIBA has won three of his four starts to date, including the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket on his last appearance on 11 July.

He represents trainer Charlie Appleby, who has saddled two previous champions in this race. The last winner for this yard was Aomori City in 2024. Al Hudaiba is a strong traveller over 7f, with an emphasis on his galloping towards the finish.

This two-year-old colt boasts impressive speed and he should prove too much for his rivals on Tuesday.

20:00 Ffos Las: Pureis King @ 11/10

Ffos Las brings a serving of flat action in the evening, with six races scheduled. The penultimate contest is a handicap over 1m4f, which should suit PUREIS KING for Faye Bromley's yard.

This four-year-old gelding is on run of two consecutive successes, having ended a run of nine appearances without a win. This streak began at this racecourse over a shorter distance of 1m2f in June, before triumphing over 1m4f at Leicester just two days later.

He's back after a month off but returns to SA17 with solid claims. Callum Hutchinson has been on board for Pureis King's previous three outings and the pair have finished no lower than second.
