Coronation Stakes 2025 Tips: Friday’s Group 1 cracker could be for export

The Coronation Stakes (16:20) is a G1 contest for three-year-old fillies over the round mile. Some real beauties have taken this in the past - how about Attraction, Russian Rhythm, Marling, Al Bahathri, One In A Million and Humble Duty, to name but a handful?
This might, just might, not be a renewal to quite scale those heights of yesterday but who's to say a superstar isn't about to announce herself? A sumptuous feast indeed.
16:20 (Coronation Stakes) - Zarigana @ 9/4
Classic-winning form is represented here courtesy of a daughter of G1-winner Siyouni, who also raced in these famous Aga Khan silks.
Zarigana took the G1 French 1000 Guineas in slightly controversial fashion, as she was promoted from second after a Stewards' Inquiry. First-past-the-post She's Perfect was deemed to have caused interference.
The winning distance was just a nose, so an occurrence including that 'interference' tag was always likely to result in a demotion. Francis-Henri Graffard's filly still ran a wonderful career-best race, and for me it's the most persuasive piece of form on offer.
She's run on five occasions, and would be unbeaten bar a nose defeat at Longchamp in a G2 last October. Jockey Mickael Barzalona is the only one to ride her in earnest on a racecourse and as he dropped his whip the last day in the final stages, the performance can arguably be marked up a touch.
Owen Burrows and Jim Crowley combine with Falakeyah, impressive Listed scorer at HQ in early May, while Aidan O'Brien saddles a couple - Ryan Moore plumping for the Kingman filly January, well beaten behind stablemate Lake Victoria in the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh.
It has an open look to it and there could be a 'lurker' about to explode on to the scene, but I think by far the safest angle is to go with the strong-travelling filly who already has three Group successes and a 'major' tucked nicely under her belt.
