Betfred St Leger Entries: Derby hero one of eight confirmed for final Classic

The final Classic of the season, the Betfred St Leger, takes place at Doncaster on Saturday afternoon (15:40).

Eight remain in the running as of Monday's confirmation stage - here's the lowdown on those Betfred St Leger Entries.

Betfred Derby hero Lambourn is one of eight still in contention for the Betfred St Leger at Doncaster on Saturday.

Aidan O'Brien's son of Australia, who also landed the Irish Derby, was confirmed for the Classic contest at the five-day stage on Monday.

He could be joined on Town Moor by stablemates Saratoga, Scandinavia and Stay True, as O'Brien eyes a ninth victory in the race.

The shortest of those is Scandinavia, a Group 1 winner at Glorious Goodwood last time out, who remains a warm favourite after the latest entry stage.

Lambourn is 3/1 to add another Classic to his resume, while the unexposed Stay True is available at 6/1.

Saratoga (33/1) is another possible runner for 'The Lads', but the son of Camelot is yet to win in three starts, the most recent of which was just last weekend.

Also confirmed for the Betfred St Leger on Monday afternoon was Carmers for Paddy Twomey.

The Royal Ascot winner, who enjoyed a satisfactory prep run in the Great Voltigeur at York last month, is trading at 4/1 at time of publication.

Britain's big hope, according to the betting at least, is Andrew Balding's Furthur. He can be backed at 11/1 ahead of stablemate Tarriance (25/1).

Finally, Roger Varian has left the door open for Frankel colt Rahiebb - another 25/1 shot.
