Albany Stakes 2025 Tips: Si Signora

Royal Ascot rolls on to Friday and the Albany Stakes, a 6f Group 3 for juvenile fillies, opens the card in style at 14:30. This can provide a solid springboard for future Group 1 glory, with the likes of Porta Fortuna and Meditate in recent times scoring at the highest level later in the year.
Betfred are offering FOUR PLACES on the opener and below are my two selections for the Royal Ascot day four curtain raiser.
Signora @ 5/2
You can do all the form study in the world but at the end of the day, the Ballydoyle juvenile chosen by Ryan Moore is unlikely to be far away. His record in this race in the past five years is 34121 and, with such a strong team to pit against each other, it’s no surprise connections know who is the best of a good bunch.
With that in mind, SIGNORA is an obvious choice.
Luckily for us, there’s substance to her debut run on several levels, too. Thrown in at the deep end in a Group 3 at Naas against experienced rivals, she travelled like a dream behind the eventual winner Lady Imam, but when Wayne Lordan asked her to quicken, the response wasn’t immediate.
That’s no surprise given it was her first day at school but the way she finished her race was hugely encouraging, especially given Ascot’s stiff finish.
Her dam, Heartache, won the 2017 Queen Mary at this meeting on fast ground and her full sister, Exactly, has run seven times in Group company, never finishing out of the first four, including when fourth to Zarigana in the French 1,000 Guineas last month.

Tahalel @ 20/1
A saver on TAHALEL, another filly yet to win, could give us some crucial cover at big odds.
There’s a suspicion that she may get better with time and distance but given the test this race provides at such an early stage, a bit of back-end stamina is never a bad thing and she was heavily backed to make a winning debut at Haydock before finishing second.
Her conqueror, Fitzella, is also in here but is much shorter in price and had both the benefit of a previous run and a smart break to bag the rail at Haydock.
Her dam was unraced but comes from the same family as Thunderous, a Listed winner at two whose career peaked with a second to Stradivarius in the Yorkshire Cup as a five-year-old, and Unforgotten, who managed a rating of 97 despite an injury-hit career.
Her sire, Ascot specialist Blue Point, has bred many in his image, including Group 1 scorers Rosallion, Kind Of Blue and Big Evs, so this track should be right up her street.
It’s a big jump from that debut to victory here but the odds are tasty enough to give her a chance in a race that looks very open outside of the main selection.
