Young boys vs atalanta

Young Boys will attempt to secure their first points of the Champions League season when they host a formidable Atalanta side at the Wankdorf Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Read on for my Young Boys vs Atalanta prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Young Boys vs Atalanta Betting Tips

  • Atalanta to win to nil @ 7/5
  • Ademola Lookman to score anytime @ 23/20

Football Odds

Young Boys have lost all four of their group matches so far, including a 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month.

The Swiss champions have been better on the domestic scene, recording three wins and two draws in six games under interim coach Joel Magnin.

Meanwhile, Atalanta are enjoying a strong season both in Serie A and in Europe.

Gian Piero Gasperini's men are unbeaten in the Champions League this season and are coming off a 3-1 league victory over Parma, which extended their winning streak to six matches.

Team News

Young Boys will be without several key players due to injuries, including defenders Tanguy Zoukrou, Mats Seiler, Patric Pfeiffer, and Saidy Janko.

A severe ankle injury keeps defensive midfielder Miguel Chaiwa out of the team, so Filip Ugrinic - a wide man by trade - could be dropped back into the deep-lying midfield position he fulfilled against Shakhtar

La Dea’s biggest absence will be in midfield where Brazilian star Ederson serves a one-match suspension.

Defenders Davide Zappacosta, Sead Kolasinac, Berat Djimsiti, and Ben Godfrey are injured, but Gasperini has plenty of cover at the back.

The game comes too soon for former West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, who is recovering from a knee operation.

Atalanta are firm favorites at 2/5 to claim victory in Bern, giving the visitors an implied probability of 71.4%, while Young Boys are priced at 13/2 to secure a much-needed home victory with a 13.3% chance to claim all three points.

The draw is available at 4/1, both teams to score at 8/11, and over 2.5 total goals at 8/15.

In-form Italy striker Mateo Retegui (19/20) leads the anytime goalscorer market, with Atalanta team-mate Ademola Lookman just behind him in the betting at 23/20.

Atalanta to win to nil @ 7/5

Atalanta's combination of attacking strength and solid form makes them strong candidates to collect three points and keep a clean sheet on this trip to Bern.

Young Boys are still searching for their first Champions League point of the campaign and they have only managed to score once in their four previous matches.

Atalanta have yet to concede in the league phase as Gasperini’s team have built on last season’s superb defensive record which saw them keep six clean sheets in 13 Europa League games.

Only three Champions League clubs have faced fewer shots than the Bergamo outfit and no other side in the competition has faced fewer efforts on target after four matches.

Those statistics suggest Atalanta have the capacity to shut Young Boys out and record another important away win on Tuesday.

Ademola Lookman to score anytime @ 23/20

Lookman has been Atalanta’s star man since his match-winning display in the Europa League Final last May.

The Nigeria international has scored nine goals in 14 appearances this season, bagging in each of his side’s two away Champions League wins against Stuttgart and Shakhtar.

Lookman has netted in four of Atalanta’s last five road games and his substitution minutes after scoring against Parma on Saturday suggest Gasperini intends to play him from the start in Bern.
