West Ham United vs Arsenal Stats & Premier League Betting Analysis

Saturday’s Premier League programme concludes with a London derby when West Ham entertain Arsenal (17:30).
A victory for the Hammers at the London Stadium would further ease the pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui, who earned some breathing space with a 2-0 win at Newcastle on Monday.
It would also dent the Gunners’ title hopes, but Mikel Arteta’s side appears to be back on track now following the returns from injury of Martin Odegaard and ex-Hammer Declan Rice.

Form Guide
West Ham’s form over the last six league matches is surprisingly good as Lopetegui’s men have won three times, drawn once and lost twice. Only Liverpool and Brighton have won more matches than the Hammers during this period.
Arsenal have collected two points fewer than their London rivals from two wins, two draws and two defeats but they have had a tougher run of fixtures according to the average points hauls of their last six opponents.
West Ham have taken only seven points from a possible 18 at home this season and their goal difference is -2 at the London Stadium while Arsenal have failed to win any of their last four away league games, taking a total of just two points from them.
Head-to-head
Saturday’s clash will be the 152nd meeting between these two capital clubs, with Arsenal winning 73 times compared to West Ham’s 37. There have been 41 draws.
The Gunners have had the better of this fixture in the last four years, recording six wins and two draws in the last 10 meetings.
But West Ham have won two of the three derbies played since ex-Hammer Rice switched sides, beating Arsenal 3-1 at home in the Carabao Cup last November before a 2-0 victory in a post-Christmas Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium.
The first contest between the pair was in January 1906 when West Ham drew 1-1 with Woolwich Arsenal in the FA Cup before the Gunners won the replay 3-2 at Upton Park five days later.
West Ham’s biggest win over Arsenal was a 7-0 thrashing dished out in 1927 while the Gunners recorded their most emphatic victory in the fixture last February when they ran out 6-0 winners at the London Stadium.

Goals
West Ham have scored a respectable eight goals from their six home games in the league, including four in one afternoon against Ipswich, but they have kept just one clean sheet in front of their own fans this season.
Both teams have scored in four of their six Premier League games at the London Stadium and a similar ratio of Arsenal’s six away league fixtures have seen BTTS be successful.
That is despite the fact that Arsenal are among the lowest scorers away from home in the Premier League, finding the back of the net a mere six times with only Everton, Brentford and Southampton converting fewer chances on the road.
However, at least three goals have been scored in six of the last eight league meetings of these clubs and, with over 2.5 goals available at 4/6 for this game, it could be a shrewd option as neither side lacks firepower.
Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka are Arsenal’s top scorers in the league with four goals apiece while Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek jointly lead the way for West Ham with three strikes each.

Cards
Red cards have been a major talking point in both clubs’ seasons with Arsenal having already had three men ordered off in their opening 12 matches.
Two West Ham players have seen red so far with a further 29 yellow cards issued to Lopetegui’s side, compared to Arsenal’s 33 cautions.
Expect a feisty affair on the back of last season’s 6-0 win for Arsenal when all four of the yellow cards shown in the match went to West Ham players.
Referee Anthony Taylor, the man in the middle for Saturday’s clash, has shown 44 yellows and one red in 11 league matches this season, giving him an average of 42.25 booking points.
Backing 40-55 booking points in the game at 7/5 could be an interesting play.
Fouls
Lucas Paqueta leads West Ham’s fouls charts, committing 18 at an average of 1.80 per game, while Arsenal’s main transgressor has been Havertz, who has clocked up 20 fouls in his 11 appearances.
