Super Sunday’s first offering sees West Ham United host Arsenal at the London Stadium (14:00).

David Moyes’ side were well beaten at Old Trafford last time out while the Gunners kept their title tilt on track with a 3-1 victory over Liverpool. It’s a win that has injected belief into those in red and white, and now they travel across London looking to secure another vital three points.

With both Manchester City and Liverpool playing on Saturday, the pressure will be on Mikel Arterta’s men to get three points here.

West Ham vs Arsenal Tips

  • Arsenal to win and BTTS @ 2/1
  • A penalty to be awarded @ 7/4

Team News

West Ham’s duo of Michail Antonio and Lucas Paqueta are currently sidelined, while Aphonse Areola could well join them having been substituted at half-time at Old Trafford. Kalvin Phillips hasn’t enjoyed the smoothest start to life at the London Stadium but could be re-introduced into the starting XI.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was taken off in the win over Liverpool and Arsenal are monitoring his fitness levels, while Gabriel Jesus missed that victory. Both players could play a part here however, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is back from the AFC Asian Cup.

Match Odds

West Ham are priced at 5/1 to win this match while Arsenal are priced at 8/15 for the three points. A draw can be backed at 10/3, over 2.5 goals is 8/13 and BTTS is 8/11.

Arsenal to win and BTTS @ 2/1

Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Liverpool was impressive on the surface, but what was more encouraging was the performance from Arteta’s side. They dominated the entire match, and if it had not been for a defensive mistake before half-time, they would have enjoyed a fair more comfortable afternoon. The decision to play two false nine’s in Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz was a masterstroke, and they completely perplexed Jurgen Klopp’s outfit.

I can see them carrying this attacking threat into this away game, against a West Ham defence that looked shaky at Old Trafford. The Hammers conceded three goals and without Paqueta, they don't look like the same team. Arsenal should win this game, but both teams have scored in three of their last four league matches - so I believe the home side can also get on the scoresheet.

A penalty to be awarded @ 7/4

A slightly different pick for me here, but one I’m confident about for a variety of reasons. Based on most penalties received this season, Arsenal and West Ham sit third and fifth respectively. The Gunners have been awarded six this term, with West Ham scoring three of the four they’ve been given.

Both teams have difficult attackers to deal with, with the likes of Jarrod Bown and Bukayo Saka brilliant at drawing fouls. In the last three West Ham matches, there have been three penalties, with two coming in that crazy game at Bramall Lane. Against a talented Arsenal outfit, I believe we will see another penalty in this game.
