Tottenham Hotspur are in Uefa Europa League action on Thursday (20:00, TNT Sports 3) as they host the 2022 champions Eintracht Frankfurt for the first leg of their quarter-final tie. Ange Postecoglou's side have had a forgettable campaign in the Premier League but they have tended to save their best stuff for this competition.

The visitors head to north London having lost just two of their 10 fixtures in Europe to date in 2024/25. Read on for my Tottenham vs Eintracht Frankfurt predictions, supported by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Radu Dragusin remains Spurs' long-term absentee with an ACL injury. Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin Danso are sidelined with foot and hamstring problems respectively. They are not expected back for another couple of weeks so it looks like they are going to miss both legs of this tie.

Richarlison will be eager to get some minutes under his belt after he returned to the squad at the weekend following a calf issue. Fellow attacker Timo Werner is unable to feature as he was not registered in Tottenham's Europa League squad.

Postecoglou kept defenders Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven in reserve against Southampton on Sunday ahead of this clash, and both should come into the back four on Thursday.

Rodrigo Bentancur is likely to return to the midfield as he sat out of the second leg in the round of 16 with AZ Alkmaar through injury. He's set to feature alongside Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison in the engine room, while Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke look the most probable front three.

Tottenham vs Eintracht Frankfurt Stats

  • Tottenham have won four of their five home games in the Europa League this season
  • Over 2.5 goals has struck in four of Eintracht Frankfurt's five away trips in the UEL this term

Frankfurt will welcome back Nnamdi Collins from suspension and he may be considered to start in defence here. Die Adler are without their number one goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, so the inexperienced Kaua Santos is set to start between the sticks as Jens Grahl is not registered in their European squad.

Junior Dimba Ebimbe and Oscar Hojlund, brother of Manchester United striker Rasmus, are other names who weren't declared for this competition.

Elye Wahi and Ansgar Knauff are ruled out through injury but the German side welcomed back Igor Matanovic back against Werder Bremen on Saturday, following a two-month spell in the medical bay.

Tottenham vs Eintracht Frankfurt Odds

The bookies are favouring Spurs in this first leg as they are 8/11 to win on Thursday. Tottenham have won four of their five home games in the Europa League so far and this is when we have tended to witness this team at their best in 2024/25.

Two of their home matches have seen both teams find the net, while Frankfurt have scored in all but one of their five away trips in this competition. Spurs and both teams to score is priced at an attractive 2/1, which has an implied probability of 33.3%.

The hosts have gone two goals ahead in four of their 10 European matches this season and they are 4/6 to win with Betfred's 2 Up Early Payout market.

Spurs and Frankfurt have experienced three stalemates between them in the UEL this campaign and the draw is marketed at 3/1 on Thursday.

Frankfurt have prevailed in three of their away contests so far and they are 100/30 to take the advantage in the tie.

Tottenham and both teams to score @ 2/1

Their Premier League campaign has been a disaster, but Tottenham still have a chance to make 2024/25 memorable if they can go all the way in the Europa League. The players have stepped up when needed in this competition and they have made their stadium a fortress, as they are yet to taste defeat in N17.

Spurs are constantly reminded that 2008 was the last time they won a major trophy and they have a chance to end that drought in the Europa League. Frankfurt will provide them with a stern test as their triumph in Europe is still relatively fresh, so they know exactly what is required to get to the final at least.

Postecoglou's future in north London remains in doubt but deliverance of silverware may just buy him some more time in the hot seat. His players will be pumped up for this clash and I fancy them to gain a foothold in the quarter-final.

They have been a strong force at home and I can't see that changing here. I do think Frankfurt can cause them some problems, though, as they have been a constant nuisance on their travels in Europe, and have only blanked once.

Additionally, across all competitions, Spurs have kept just one clean sheet in their past 11 fixtures.

Over 2.5 goals @ 8/15

Taking all the previous points into consideration, I think that we will see a number of goals in north London on Thursday. I like the look of over 2.5 goals here as it has frequently delivered in matches involving both clubs throughout this Europa League season.

For Tottenham, they have seen three or more goals scored in seven of their games to date, including four of their five home appearances.

Over 2.5 goals has also been a successful bet in six of Frankfurt's 10 fixtures in the UEL, with four of them coming on the road.
