Hosts Switzerland unusually don't feature in the opening game of Euro 2025, but the home nation will be in action at St Jakob-Park in Basel later on the first day when they take on Norway in Group A (20:00 BST Wednesday, BBC One).

The Swiss are taking part in the finals for only the third time and have never got past the group stage, while Norway are the only nation other than eight-time winners Germany to have won the tournament more than once, having been successful in 1987 and 1993. Here's our three-leg Switzerland vs Norway Bet Builder Tips which would pay out at 11/1 if successful.

Switzerland vs Norway Odds

Norway to win

Norway have not won the Women's Euros for 32 years, but they have had a remarkably solid record in the tournament since their last success, finishing as runners-up twice and making the semi-finals on three other occasions.

They have a point to prove after mediocre showings at the last two tournaments, though, having gone out at the group stage in 2017 and 2022.

Now ranked 16th in the world, the Norwegians are only seven places above Switzerland, their hosts for their first Group A match, but the odds probably don't fully reflect the gap in class between the sides and Norway look a solid bet to get off to a winning start.

The Scandinavians can take advantage of a Swiss side who will be missing their star player Ramona Bachmann due to a knee injury, while Tottenham defender Luana Buhler has also been ruled out of the tournament.

Norway have a dangerous array of attacking options with Caroline Graham Hansen, Guro Reiten and Ada Hegerberg set to lead the forward line and they could prove too much for the home nation to handle.

Over 3.5 goals

Norway played in an unusually tight qualifying group in Group A1, drawing four of their six games and missing out on a top-two place behind Italy and the Netherlands.

They showed the damage they can do against more vulnerable defences in the play-offs, however, thrashing Albania 5-0 and 9-0 and then thumping Northern Ireland 4-0 and 3-0 to book their ticket to the finals.

The Swiss defence gave up 19 goals in an eight-game winless run before their recent friendly victory over Czech Republic and with their injury issues they may struggle to hold back the Norwegian forwards.

Guro Reiten to score at any time

Guro Reiten has become a mainstay of the Chelsea team in the Women's Super League and the winger is also a fixture in the Norwegian national team, having clocked up 102 caps for her nation.

Reiten scored eight goals in 17 WSL appearances for the Blues last season and with 21 international goals to her name she should fancy her chances of adding to that tally against a struggling Swiss defence.
