Southampton vs Fulham Prediction: Saints eye up a point for pride

Southampton know they will be playing in the Championship next season, but they still have a goal to aim for ahead of the visit of Fulham on Saturday.
One point will be enough for Saints to avoid going down as the joint-worst team in Premier League history as they sit on 11 points, the record for the lowest total set by Derby County in the 2007/08 campaign.
They entertain a Fulham side who sit in ninth spot and Europe remains a possibility for the Cottagers, as the top eight places could be good enough to qualify this season. Read on for my Southampton vs Fulham predictions.

Team News
Interim Southampton boss Simon Rusk will be without Charlie Taylor and Albert Gronbaek, although the latter is close to a return and he may be available for the trip to Leicester next week.
Tyler Dibling and Cameron Archer are pushing for starting spots in attack, with Kamaldeen Sulemana and/or Paul Onuachu making way.
Harry Wilson could be recalled to Fulham’s starting XI after making a return from injury from the bench in the defeat to Chelsea last week.
Reiss Nelson is out with a hamstring injury, while both Rodrigo Muniz and Emile Smith Rowe are rated as doubts.
Southampton vs Fulham Stats
- Fulham have suffered four defeats in five games
- Southampton have only failed to score in one of their last six matches
Fulham are rated as the 4/6 favourites to win, a draw is 3/1 and Southampton are 9/2 to claim what would be a third Premier League win of the season.
Goals are expected as Both Teams To Score - Yet and Over 2.5 goals are both priced at 8/11.
Fulham To Win & Both Teams To Score @ 11/5
Fulham are in the middle of a rough patch, but Saturday’s trip to the Premier League’s bottom club looks like a great chance to pick up three crucial points in their bid to reach Europe.
The Cottagers have suffered four defeats in their last five games, but they have had a tough run.
They allowed a 1-0 lead to slip away against Chelsea last week as they conceded two late goals and they have picked up a win over soon-to-be-crowned champions Liverpool this month.
Those performances suggest they should have far too much for this woeful Southampton side on Saturday. Saints were fortunate to take a point at West Ham last time out and they are on a 10-game winless run, with eight defeats.
The hosts can at least grab a consolation effort, however, as Southampton have only failed to score in one of their last six games, while Fulham have kept just one clean sheet in their last 14 games across all competitions.

Alex Iwobi To Score Any Time @ 21/10
Alex Iwobi is enjoying his best ever season in the Premier League with nine goals so far and Saturday’s trip to St Mary’s looks like a great chance for the former Arsenal and Everton man to reach double figures.
Iwobi is averaging 1.8 attempts per game in the league and has two goals and one assist in his last three appearances. He can continue his purple patch with an anytime effort against Saints.
