Serbia vs England Prediction: 7/2 Kane to make the difference

England will be looking to make it five wins from their opening five Fifa World Cup qualification matches on Tuesday night, when they take on Serbia at the Rajko Mitic Stadium (20:00 BST, live on ITV).

The Three Lions are top of Group K on 12 points, five points ahead of second-placed Serbia, although Tuesday's hosts have lost just one of their past 24 World Cup qualifiers. Read on for our Serbia vs England predictions, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Serbia don't appear to have any fresh injury concerns following their 1-0 win over Latvia, but Dragan Stojkovic is still expected to make changes to his side.

All-time leading goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic could replace Luka Jovic in the front line, and play alongside Dusan Vlahovic, while goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic asked not to be included in Serbia's squad, to give him time to adjust to his big summer move to Napoli. 

As for England, they also came away from their most recent outing unscathed injury-wise, but Thomas Tuchel may opt to shuffle the pack after the uninspiring 2-0 win over Andorra.

Marcus Rashford and Eberechi Eze failed to make their mark on Saturday, so the likes of Morgan Rogers and Anthony Gordon may be given starting berths here.

The Three Lions will be without the key injured trio of Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer, while the may be another start available to Elliot Anderson, who impressed against Andorra.

Serbia vs England Odds

England are 4/5 favourites on Tuesday, giving them an implied win probability of 55.6%, while the Serbians are 18/5 and the draw is a 5/2 shot.

Harry Kane currently leads the anytime goalscorer market at 5/4, while Mitrovic is shortest-priced for the hosts at 23/10.

England win and under 3.5 goals @ 5/4

It's fair to say that England's start to life under Tuchel has been underwhelming.

The Three Lions laboured to a dull 2-0 win over Andorra, a nation ranked 174th in the world, on Saturday, but Tuchel would argue that this is a results business and England are top of their World Cup qualification group with four wins from four.

England mustered up just 11 shots in their aforementioned win against Andorra, and just one after Declan Rice's goal in the 67^th minute - they last had fewer in a game against a nation ranked outside of the top 100 in March 2011 vs Wales. For all of the criticisms thrown at Gareth Southgate during his time as England boss, he oversaw a side that scored four or more goals on 15 separate occasions, including a 10-0 win in San Marino, in three qualification campaigns since the 2018 World Cup.

Our point is - don't expect a high-scoring game on Tuesday, as none of Serbia's last 17 games have produced four or more goals. England should be able to grind out a result, but the Serbs represent their toughest test of qualification so far.

Harry Kane - first goalscorer @ 7/2

Picking Kane to score is a fairly obvious 'tip' but we're backing the England skipper to open the scoring on Tuesday rather than anytime.

The Bayern Munich striker already has six goals in four games for his club side this season and is fancied to translate that form into this England outing - he's the country's all-time top goalscorer for a reason.

The former Spurs man is so often the difference-maker in close games, so we're backing him to score first at 7/2.
