Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips: 16/1 Acca from the 3PM UK Longlist
Last week we were oh so close. Five games came good but after a seven-game run of league games at Spotland coming up with Over 2.5 Goals, Rochdale vs York City finished goalless.
We go into Saturday's Over 2.5 Goals column looking to go one better with a 16/1 sixfold...
Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips:
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Leicester City vs Rotherham United @ 1/2
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Bolton Wanderers vs Leyton Orient @ 5/6
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Tranmere Rovers vs Swindon Town @ 4/6
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Wrexham vs Newport County @ 8/15
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Partick Thistle vs Inverness Caledonian Thistle @ 8/13
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Hamilton Academical vs Kelty Hearts @ 4/7
- Overall Odds - 16/1
Leg 1 - Leicester City vs Rotherham United @ 1/2
Last week I had several games in this column of a really good team playing at home against a really poor team and each and every one of those games came good. Now it would be fair to say the Manchester City vs Crystal Palace selection won but not using the methodology I’d expected, i.e. a big home win, but it still won.
That little introduction takes us to our first pick of this sixfold as we have top-of the-table playing at home against bottom-of-the-table.
Leicester have found their shooting boots recently and have a nice four-game streak of Over 2.5 landing and in the past three, Over 3.5 would have been a winner as well.
Rotherham really aren’t any good and they could easily crumble on Saturday afternoon and go down big.
Leg 2 - Bolton Wanderers vs Leyton Orient @ 5/6
My current local team have been mightily streaky so far this campaign as they started with three wins on the spin, before then tasting victory just once in five. Then followed eight three-point returns from nine but back-to-back defeats for the first time this season has to be a concern.
In general though, Ian Evatt’s side have been amongst the goals in their 23/24 campaign, with only Peterborough scoring more in EFL League 1.
They face a tricky match against a solid Bristol Rovers team, who have been a nice BTTS play in recent weeks, having had six games in a row come good for that statistic.
I like Bolton to win and get back on the horse as they fight for promotion back to the EFL Championship but I also like the visitors to find the back of the net. If both of those things come true, Over 2.5 has to be a winner.
Leg 3 - Tranmere Rovers vs Swindon Town @ 4/6
Down in EFL League 2 and Mike Dean’s favourite club have been fun to watch recently as Tranmere Rovers have seen their past six games at home all have Over 2.5 Goals come in as a winner.
This Saturday they welcome in a Swindon Town side who started the season like a house on fire in front of goal but their attack has been blunted somewhat in recent weeks. On the other hand, they are conceding at a rate of knots, ten in their past three, which pretty much makes up for it in terms of this particular column.
Should be a high-scoring game at Prenton Park and a good selection for this accumulator.
Leg 4 - Wrexham vs Newport County @ 8/15
Staying in EFL League 2 and only once this season has a game at the Racecourse Ground not been an Over 2.5 winner. That was back in the middle of November when the home side beat Gillingham 2-0. The Kent side have been an Under 2.5 play all year long, so that wasn’t the biggest shock in the world.
In their nine other games though, had you bet on the Overs then you’d be dead chuffed. Wrexham at home is (and will continue to be) a play most weeks.
Leg 5 - Partick Thistle vs Inverness Caledonian Thistle @ 8/13
I do like a bit of a hot spell for statistics and even though I know they all have to end eventually, heck Brighton games finally didn’t BTTS last week. I think after a certain amount of time, trends become too obvious to ignore.
That brings us to the Firhill Stadium where supporters of Partick Thistle have witnessed Over 2.5 goals being scored in every match played at the ground this season and we are now just a handful of days before Christmas. Yes, eight league matches (plus four cup matches) and three or more goals have been scored in every single one of them.
The only small caveat is that their only 0-0 draw this season was away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle back in October. Yet, that was the only game of 16 in the league home or away where Over 2.5 hasn’t been a winner. That trend is certainly pronounced.
Leg 6 - Hamilton Academical vs Kelty Hearts @ 4/7
To round off, we once again delve into our data set to find a team rolling with a six-game streak of Over 2.5 being a winner of their travels in league play. That side is Kelty Hearts.
You have to go all the way back to August to find a game the Hearts played away from New Central Park against a Scottish League 1 rival where three or more goals haven’t been scored.
They play second-placed Hamilton this weekend, who are the second top-scorers in the division, having scored more than two-per-game themselves.
Kelty beat them 0-2 in a cup match just last month, so they’ll be full of confidence they can give the hosts a good game and Hamilton have scored five times in three times in their past 11, so when they are on, they go big.
