Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips: 22/1 Accumulator for the 3PM Matches

Last week we were near, yet so far as Cheltenham vs Oxford United torpedoed our chances as the home side won 2-0, falling just a goal short of hitting the required mark. The other four legs all came in.
This Saturday we go a whopping seven-games deep but that does give us a healthy price of 22/1 for our Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips...

Leg 1 - Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers @ 8/13
We start at the Emirates where the home side are coming into the game on the back of hammering French side Lens 6-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Mikel Arteta saw six different scorers find the back of the net as he saw his men rubber stamp their spot in the last 16 as winners of Group B.
One thing that may have passed some by was Bukayo Saka had three assists. The England wide-man has been in slightly indifferent form so far in this campaign but he looked back to his best. If he’s firing on all cylinders then they have plenty of assets going forward to score multiple goals a game.
Wolves go into this one still without star man Pedro Neto. The Portuguese winger looked outstanding in the first couple of months before an injury in the match against Bournemouth saw him spend a spell on the sidelines. Without him though, Gary O’Neil’s side have scored in every game and they have a five-game run of hitting the Over 2.5.
Leg 2 - Bolton Wanderers vs Harrogate Town @ 8/15
This is the first of three games selected that are part of the FA Cup Second Round.
The Lilywhites currently sit atop of League 1 and the last time they trotted out in front of their fans at the Toughsheet Stadium, they blew Exeter away and scored seven times. I’m not saying they repeat that on Saturday but they only need to score three to assure that they hit the over.
Ian Evatt’s side are only bested by Charlton Athletic when it comes to this statistic in the division. We’ve seen them involved in several high-scoring games already this term and they are always a team to heavily consider in this particular column.
Harrogate are one of the worst teams in League 2 for being involved in games with three or more goals but this is a cup game and they are on the road facing a team from a division higher who have plenty of attacking talent on show. The home side could well hit the over without any help from the visitors.
Leg 3 - Crewe Alexandra vs Bristol Rovers @ 4/6
Oh hello there old friend Crewe Alexandra. We meet again. Lee Bell’s side enjoy a semi-permanent residency in this column for the main reason that they score plenty of goals but defensively, they are pretty ropey.
They have scored at a better rate than two-goals-a-game in league play and they concede nearly 1.5 per 90 minutes.
Bristol Rovers on the other side of the coin are the polar opposite. Lacklustre in front of goal but also miserly at the back. Only once in their past five in the league has the Over 2.5 come in.
So it all depends on whether you trust Crewe’s positive or Bristol Rovers negative trend more. In general I’m a negative guy but in this one, I’ll take the positive angle.
Leg 4 - Sutton United vs Horsham @ 8/11
This I feel is the toughest call of the sevenfold. Neither side score a lot of goals and that is kinda a requirement for backing Over 2.5 but they play a very different calibre of side week in, week out.
Sutton may be sitting bottom of League 2 but Horsham are currently plying their trade in the Isthmian Premier Division. Remember the visitors here actually lost in the first round but were granted a reprieve and reinstated following Barnsley fielding an ineligible player in the replay.
This is 100% a free hit for the away side who will give it everything with absolutely no expectations. The home side should completely outclass their opponents. This game feels like despite the records, it should provide plenty of goals.
Leg 5 - Hornchurch vs Whitehawk @ 4/11
For the second time in a fortnight, this column makes the virtual trip to the Hornchurch Stadium to back the Over 2.5.
Last time out I thought the home side would wallop Potters Bar Town and get the three goals without any help from the opposition and they came good, winning 3-0. Games involving the club have hit the required mark in seven of their past eight.
This weekend they face mid-table opposition and when you consider that through 16 games, Steve Morison’s side have averaged more than three-a-game just themselves, they are a must-play more weeks than not for this weekly article. They might well become a staple.
Leg 6 - Guiseley vs Radcliffe Football Club @ 1/2
The first of two games from the Northern Premier League and this one is 6th vs 1st and it is the prolific offence of the visitors that has me intrigued enough to put them up as a potential option to bet on.
Radcliffe are top and they’ve only been involved in one league game on their travels where Over 2.5 has not been a winner. This is the first weekend of December, so that is very much a noteworthy trend.
The hosts are also a solid play in their own right having been involved in five straight games where the Over 2.5 can come up thumps. There should be plenty of action at Nethermoor Park.
Leg 7 - Matlock Town vs Lancaster City @ 4/7
Each week when preparing this column, I scour the non-leagues looking for any team that stands out looking for something new and interesting to write about. This week when scanning the league tables, the Goals For and Goals Against records of Matlock Town jumped off my screen.
In 19 games in their Northern Premier League campaign, they have scored 40 times and the keeper has been fetching the ball out of the back of his net on 38 occasions. So some simple maths of 78/19 equates to 4.1 goals a game. That is one of the highest I’ve come across.
This weekend they are hosting a fellow mid-of-the-table side and whilst Lancaster are not anywhere near the level of their hosts in terms of troubling the scorers in both a positive and negative context, the relentlessness of Matlock to be entertaining feels like it should win out.
