Neither Romania or Wales will be at the World Cup this summer, so they bring their respective seasons to a close with a friendly against one another. This one is in Bucharest, at the Steaua Stadium, with the game kicking off at 8.45pm local time, or 6.45pm BST.

Team News

After a 1-1 draw with Ghana in midweek, Craig Bellamy will want to end the season on a high. The manager is set to make a few changes to his set and could offer minutes to the likes of Kai Andrews, Isaak Davies and Cameron Congreve as he looks to the future.

All three came off the bench against Romania while Cardiff’s young star Dylan Lawlor started at centre-back. His clubmate Joel Colwill will hope for a start, while Chris Mepham could replace Joe Rodon at the back.

Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin is set to start at the back for Romania, while experienced captina Nicolae Stanciu now plays his football in China for Dalian Yingbo.

Louis Munteanu is the favourite to score first at 5/1.

Romania vs Wales Stats

  • Both teams drew their last game 1-1
  • Lewis Koumas scored his first international goal vs Ghana

Both teams to score @ 10/11

Both teams scored in Wales’ last match vs Ghana, and in Romania’s 1-1 draw with Georgia on Tuesday, so I’m expecting something similar in Bucharest. Both teams should play with freedom given there is nothing on the line and there’s still enough quality to produce plenty of chances.

The Welsh youngsters are going to want to impress their manager before the Nations League begins in September, with Portugal up first for Bellamy and Co. They may be world champions by then, but let’s wait and see. Goals are on the cards for me on Saturday.

Kai Andrews to score anytime @ 8/1

This is an absolutely huge price. The Coventry City teenager has bags of quality and could start this game as Wales’ number 10, if Bellamy likes what he saw briefly off the bench against Ghana. He only scored one goal in 10 appearances on loan at Hibs this season, but he could get himself into plenty of goalscoring positions against a Romania side that may make changes as the game progresses.

If he doesn’t start, he is 16/1 to score last which again offers incredible value for an attacking midfielder. We don’t have much to back this up statistically, but I know value when I see it.
