Queens Park Rangers welcome Watford to Loftus Road in the EFL Championship on Wednesday (12:30, Sky Sports Football), hoping to extend their winning run on home soil to four matches. The Rs look like they are starting to find a rhythm and Marti Cifuentes has done well to do so after a tough start to the campaign.

Watford saw their unbeaten home record come to an end against Cardiff City last time out and they will look for a response in west London. Read on for my QPR vs Watford prediction, featuring the latest match odds and team news.

QPR vs Watford Betting Tips

  • QPR or draw and both teams to score @ 6/4
  • Rayan Kolli anytime goalscorer @ 5/2

QPR vs Watford Odds

QPR are 6/4, which has an implied probability of 40%, to win this fixture and all of their home wins have come in the last three encounters. Watford are 7/4 (36.4%) to leave with the three points, but they have won just two of their 11 away games this season.

The draw is marketed at 12/5 (29.4%) and this result has struck on five occasions at Loftus Road this campaign. Nine of the 12 matches here have seen both teams get on the scoresheet and BTTS is on offer at 4/5 for this encounter.

Over 3.5 goals has struck in two of Watford's last five away trips and is priced at 11/4 for Wednesday's contest.

Watford forward Vakoun Bayo has netted nine goals in the Championship so far and he is the 2/1 favourite to score anytime in west London.

Team News

The Rs are missing midfielder Karamoko Dembele due to a knee injury and he is not expected back until March at the earliest. Sam Field was the only sitting midfielder in the draw with Norwich City last time out but there have been times in which Jonathan Varane has held that role with Field playing more advanced.

The last home game saw them play as a double pivot, which was their last victory, so we could see this partnership resume against the Hornets. Forward Zan Celar is currently out of action but he is due to make a comeback at some point this month. Defender Steve Cook is also sidelined with a foot problem and his prognosis has him out of action until February.

Paul Smyth shook off an issue to feature against the Canaries, so he could be involved on the right flank again. He could link up once again with Kieran Morgan as the number 10 and Koki Saito as the left winger, while Iliais Chair will be hoping to retain that spot after playing there against Norwich.

Rayan Kolli should continue as the front man in the absence of Celar, while Michael Frey will be itching for his first league start since October.

For Watford, they remain without the services of Kevin Keben and Tom Dele-Bashiru for the clash against Cardiff.

Rocco Vata was the wide man on the right in the defeat to the Bluebirds last time out as a result, and he will be hoping to cement his place in the team.

Vata has tended to play on the left when he has featured by Georgian Giorgi Chakvetadze resumed that position against Cardiff and this could continue in west London.

Top scorer Bayo should continue as the leading man after Daniel Jebbison failed to impress from the bench, including a squandered chance from a good goalscoring opportunity.

Edo Kayembe and Moussa Sissoko are expected to hold the advanced midfield positions, while Imran Louza could remain as the sitting midfielder for the Rs test. Ryan Andrews and Yasser Larouci should maintain their places as the full-backs, which will offer Tom Cleverley's side another attacking dimension.

QPR or draw and both teams to score @ 6/4

After how well QPR did last year once Cifuentes came in to steer them away from relegation trouble, many believed the Rs could potentially aim a little bit higher this year. But after what we saw in the first few months of the campaign, it has been a bit of a struggle.

I must give credit to the club for not panicking and pulling the trigger on the Spaniard as things look to have turned a corner in recent weeks. QPR have lost just once in their last nine and they have become much harder to beat.

Watford may be looking for an instant response here but after suffering their first home loss of the season, they will be wounded. It also doesn't help them in the fact that their away record has not been great in 2024/25 so far.

However, despite just the two wins on the road, Cleverley's men have also picked up two draws on the road, and those have come in two of the last three away clashes.

One of those games came against Plymouth Argyle and Watford were left to rue not making the most of their dominance in the first half, in which they could have put the match to bed.

Watford can be hot and cold on the road but they still have some good attacking players who can cause problems for QPR. Momentum is certainly with the hosts given their impressive streak at home but I feel like if Watford turn up, they can leave with something. I think it would be a point at best given the way QPR are delivering at Loftus Road, while I have also covered the home side because I do also see their winning run extending.

I have boosted the odds with both teams to score because nine of the 12 games at this ground have produced goals at both ends.

Rayan Kolli anytime goalscorer @ 5/2

December saw QPR's young forward Kolli score his first goals of the season. He bagged a brace against Norwich in what was an excellent display on home soil, before netting his third in the most recent home victory over Preston North End.

The other match in this winning run saw him register an assist against Oxford United, so he has been integral to this winning run. I expect this to continue when Watford come to town and I fancy him to experience some more joy in front of goal.

The 19-year-old has had a lot of responsibility thrust upon him lately and he has risen to the challenge. He looks to be an exciting prospect and I believe we will see him deliver for the Rs once again on Wednesday.
