USA to win
I think USA will make it to the last 16 based on what we have seen so far, and I think they will get the job done in 90 minutes. I’m not worried about that late defeat to Turkey in their final group game as they were already group winners and it is difficult to get up for a game in which there is nothing to play for.
Pochettino will pick his best XI for this one having rotated heavily for the final group game, and they won their group, whereas opponent Bosnia-Herzegovina only beat Qatar on their way to the round of 32.
Folarin Balogun to score (Sub Switch)
Folarin Balogun was in fine form in the group before being rested for the entire game against Turkey, but he should come back in to lead the line for Pochettino. He scored twice in the opening 4-1 win and the Monaco striker will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet in the knockout stages.
He’s the main man up top for the USA, and so I’ll back him to find the net.
USA vs Bosnia-Herzegovina Odds
Christian Pulisic 1+ assist (Sub Switch)
Captain America. He came on for 30 minutes against Turkey and proved his sharpness as he managed three shots, while he was also fouled three times. I’m hoping he will be slightly less selfish when he hopefully starts this game, and I think he has a level of quality that Bosnia-Herzegovina won’t be able to deal with.
After his minor calf issue, USA will be hoping Pulisic is back to his best as soon as possible.
Ermedin Demirovic to get booked (Sub Switch)
The Bosnia-Herzegovina forward is fantastic value for a card in my opinion, as he made four fouls against Qatar without picking up a yellow. He’s likely to be feeding on scraps and have to use his physicality once more.
Remarkably, he also made four fouls in their opener against Canada, where he picked up a yellow card, so I think the same pattern will continue here and he will end up in the referee’s notebook.
