The second leg of the Champions League semi-final between PSG and Arsenal is set to be full of tension and drama, with the French side in pole position to progress. An Ousmane Dembele goal was enough for them to beat the Gunners 1-0 at the Emirates, and Mikel Arteta’s men will have to pull off something special if they are to keep the dream of winning their first Champions League alive.

Now I know they are already in control of the tie, but I think PSG will also win this home leg. Arsenal have it all to do and unfortunately the lack of a striker will cost them and they could be caught on the break by a team that should be happy to sit in and hit on the counter. 

Dembele’s hamstring injury is a minor concern, but with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Goncalo Ramos and Desire Doue, they have plenty of gas in the tank. There’s so much pace and talent in that front three that I believe Arsenal are in for a difficult night, and I find it hard to see them progressing in truth. 

If they had a lead to defend after the first leg I’d give them half a chance of grinding out a result, but they need to chase this game, and I believe it will leave them exposed. PSG to win on the night, and progress to the final.

I think we will see a decent game at the Parc des Princes with chances at both ends. Arsenal have to score, otherwise they are out of the competition, so I’ll back them to get a goal through a set-piece or a bit of Bukayo Saka magic. 

Meanwhile, we’ve seen how ruthless PSG can be in front of goal this term, given they’ve scored 85 in the league and torn teams apart in Europe as well. They’ve got so much attacking power that they should be able to score at least twice on the night in what should be a thrilling semi-final.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score

Kvaratskhelia has been simply superb since joining PSG last summer and although his goal record hasn’t been incredible - with nine goals in 41 appearances, he is looking like a constant threat and was impressive in the first leg. 

With Dembele possibly out, it will fall to the Georgian to become PSG’s main man, and I think he’s ready for the big stage. He’s scored two goals in the UCL this season, one coming against Aston Villa, while he also provided the assist at the Emirates for Dembele. We’re getting a decent price on the talented winger to find the net, so I’ll add him to the Bet Builder. 

Achraf Hakimi and Mikel Merino to get booked

Let’s also pick out a couple of cards on what should be a fiercely competitive night in the French capital. Achraf Hakimi is one of the finest right-backs on the planet, but he’s also susceptible to a yellow card, having picked up six in all competitions so far this term. He was booked in the first leg and faces another tricky afternoon up against Gabriel Martinelli, so I think he may find himself in the referee’s notebook once more. 

The other name I will pick out is Mikel Merino. The utility man could be deployed up front or in midfield by Arteta, and has picked up three yellows so far this season. I just believe he is going to have to put himself about more than he did in leg one, and can see Arsenal approaching this fixture in quite an aggressive manner.
