Liverpool to win
Even the fiercest Liverpool critic, which I reckon is the polite way my Red colleague Nick Ware would describe me, would surely have to side with them in this Premier League encounter. They’ve not been brilliant recently, but at least that astonishing losing run has come to an end and they are starting to get that winning feeling back.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been dreadful lately, and Thomas Frank is coming under serious pressure in the dugout. They’ve won just one of their last seven in the league and now sit 11th, having been hammered 3-0 by Nottingham Forest last time out. Liverpool should be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Frank’s men right now.
Florian Wirtz to score anytime
Have I lost my mind? Florian Wirtz hasn’t registered a goal in 21 Liverpool appearances so far, but he has improved slightly in recent weeks, bagging a couple of key assists. In my mind, it’s only a matter of time before he finds the net, and so I think the odds on offer are generous, given Spurs are conceding goals for fun.
He’s had 18 shots in 15 league outings, and will surely begin to flourish as Liverpool improve. I know not many of you readers will agree with me, but give it a chance. Wirtz can silence the doubters with a goal in the capital.
Cristian Romero to be carded
My go-to pick whenever Spurs are playing to be truthful. Cristian Romero has been booked seven times in 13 Premier League matches this season which is phenomenal going, and with Liverpool posing several tricky attackers, it’s going to be very difficult for him to avoid another card. Romero has more cards this season than I got this Christmas. Sigh.
Micky van de Ven 1+ shot
Hey Micky, you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind. Defending has been a sore subject for Spurs this term so instead let’s back him to have one shot against Liverpool. He’s managed nine in 14 Premier League matches so far, but he is coming up against a Reds outfit that have given up plenty from set pieces.
Murillo had three shots at the weekend for Nottingham Forest, while Sunderland defender Omar Alderete also had three against Arne Slot’s men. I think there’s a good chance the centre-back gets on the end of a set piece and gets a shot in at some stage.
